Amex Expands The Global Lounge Collection
Lost in all the Amex Platinum news yesterday was an announcement about the expansion of the Centurion lounge collection. The additions will mainly be due to rebranding of existing airport lounges. American Express has also announced changes to guest access in its lounges and lowered fees for children.

Access for Guests and Children
As it was previously announced, American Express will end guest access to Centurion Lounges in 2023. Now American Express is changing its Centurion Lounge guest access policy.
Starting February 1, 2023, U.S. American Express Platinum and Business Platinum Card Members, and the Additional Platinum Card Members on their accounts, will be charged a $50 fee for each guest aged 18 or over that they bring into select Centurion Lounge locations. Card Members with children aged two through 17 (with proof of age) will be charged $30 per child.
Card Members can earn complimentary guest access for up to two guests per visit by spending $75,000 or more on eligible purchases on their Card Account each year, beginning in calendar year 2022, and in each calendar year thereafter.
This guest policy change applies to all U.S. locations of The Centurion Lounge, the London Heathrow (LHR) location and the Hong Kong (HKG) location.

I generally understand the intent of this policy. However, I don’t really consider a “spouse” a guest.
GREAT now we can enjoy the lounges as they were intended to be not a “feeding station” for kids/parents/grandparents etc. In the past it has been ridiculous to walk in tired and be faced with screaming kids fingering all the food and parents not properly attending their children, I can tell you mine had public manners ( yes sometimes there was a meltdown in which case one of us took them out).
So, there is no free access for my 3 years old? One of the options could be to add the child as an Platinum authorized user, but I guess that’s only for 13+ years old child.
Yes this is my primary issue. I’d gladly get my kids a card, but it’s only 13+ when other issuers allow younger AUs
