  1. I guess I just look at it differently… I use miles/points towards airline spend… Transferring miles/points to an airline and using them that way doesn’t count towards airline spend 🙁

  2. Let us be real… the 125k points COULD be worth up to $2,000 if you stand on your head…

125K points used to book hotels through AMEX’s portal; Value is $875
125k points used to book flights through AMEX’s portal; Value is $1,250

Both more than make up for the annual fee.. for sure… but MAYBE If you do some transfer magic, you COULD get $2,000 in value… Maybe

    • or… you could get the schwab version after (unless you hold it already) and cashout the 125k for $1562.50 + potential 60k from schwab at another $750 for a total of $2300+

    • I mean, 125k x 40% transfer bonus = 175k Avios. Even if you just use those Avios for two RT AA transcons in Flagship J, that’s MINIMUM $2600 saved (assuming you actually “value” those flights at ~$650 each way, which I do). If you use them for ~30 shorthauls within Europe, that could easily be worth $6000+.

    • Transfer them to Delta – book their 95K round trip Delta One sale – Probably $3-$4000 there 😉

Really it should be easy to get a min of $1800 out of this with how many transfer partners they have. No one should ever book through the Amex portal unless they have a Platinum Biz with the 35% rebate.
