Amex Referral Offers with NO Lifetime Language
American Express is really pushing referrals. Earlier this year they made it possible to refer people for any card, even if you don’t have it yourself. Now they are sending out emails to some customers with a different referral offer.
The Offer
You’ve been specially invited to refer up to two friends to apply for a pre-approved offer. You can earn the regular referral bonus when a friend is approved and they will earn the current public signup bonus that’s available through referrals.
What’s interesting about these offers, is that they do not contain the lifetime restriction. That means that if you email contains the referral option for the Platinum card, you should be able to refer someone who has already had the card and they will receive the bonus.
Key Terms
- Must have received email
- Limit two referrals
- Offer ends 1/9/2019
Conclusion
This is a huge opportunity to get bonuses for a second time on the same card. You need to have received the offer by email in order to qualify and hopefully it contains one of the cards you’re looking for. You get the same referral and signup bonus that you would get regularly. But it’s the lack of lifetime restriction that makes this a great deal.

I’ve heard of people referring themselves. Is this still possible?
Quick question. What if you are already max out on your referral, can you still earn 40,000 points with this offer, or should we wait until Jan to do it?
Also, can I refer my sister, she already has SPG in the past, but she already close it.
If she reopen, will she get 75,000 points this time?
Looks like the annual limit still applies, so you have to wait until 2019. Since there’s no lifetime restriction, she should get the bonus again. Just make sure you double check for it on your own offer.
