American Express is Sending Check for Last Year’s Uber Credit Issues

The personal American Express Platinum card gives cardholders a $200 Uber credit every year. You get $15 each month, for the first 11 months of the year. And for December they give members $35 to celebrate the end of the year.

This Uber benefit used to come in the form of credits, but now American ExpressPlatinum Uber credits are being given as Uber Cash. Just like before your credits work with both Uber & Uber Eats and expire at the end of the month, but you need to make sure to select Uber Cash as your payment.

Uber Credit Issues

When the switch was made last year there was some issues with Uber credit from American Express. Credits were issued late and might have caused some people to pay for their Uber rides or Uber Eats orders when they expected to use Platinum credits instead.

Bethany from BougieMiles.com sent us the letter pictured below. American Express is now mailing out checks to those who were affected.a close up of a letter

American Express is paying those who had credit left unused because of this issue. They are also adding the applicable interest for about half a year.

Conclusion

Good to see Amex pay up for not crediting Uber accounts in time with the monthly credit. Let us know if you received similar letters from Amex.

Thanks for the tip to Bethany at Bougie Miles

  1. Amex doesn’t need to this. It’s probably doing this because it’s legally required to do. So if you are from the party thinks capitalism solves all problems you should donate this to charity. You had nothing to do with getting this refund.
