Arkansas Offering $10K and Free Bike to Move There
The Northwest Arkansas Council (NWA), a nonprofit organization, is offering remote tech professionals and entrepreneurs $10,000 to move there. The region has more than 10,000 job openings and a shortage of talent to fill available STEAM [science, technology, engineering, art or math] jobs. So the new initiative website aims to attract more professionals to the area.
Remote workers with jobs or entrepreneurs who are self-employed can apply for either $10,000 in cash or Bitcoin. Recipients will also receive a street or mountain bicycle to explore the beautiful outdoors.
When it first launched in 2020, the NWA Council initially offered $10,000 cash as an incentive program. It recently decided to add the option for bitcoin as well, although potential Arkansans can still choose cash if they prefer.
In order to be eligible, applicants must relocate to Northwest Arkansas, which includes Washington and Benton counties, within six months of acceptance to the program. They need to sign a one-year lease or buy a home. Applicants also must be at least 24 years old, have at least two years of work experience, currently live outside of the state of Arkansas and be a U.S. citizen or have the credentials required to work legally in the U.S..
“Northwest Arkansas is one of the fastest-growing regions in the country, and we’re now seeing more explosive growth in our tech sector,” said Nelson Peacock, president and CEO of the Northwest Arkansas Council. “This expanded incentive offer — Bitcoin and a Bike — not only embraces the growing trend toward the use of cryptocurrency as a payment option by employers, but also helps increase our pipeline of talent to benefit tech employers, startups, cities, local businesses and the region overall.”
The Life Works Here initiatives launched in November 2020 have so far generated over 36,000 applications from more than 115 countries and 50 states.

Arkansas can’t be worse than NYC for me. I’d move if I didn’t have family commitments keeping me where I am for more than the program will be open.
The title could use some qualifiers. Click bait of course.
Would need to add a couple zeros to get me to move to Arkansas.
Agreed.
