  1. To add perspective regarding the “best” hotels article . . . a friend who is the travel editor of a major, well-known family of magazines says that the vast majority of travel articles are simply PR pieces whose placement is bought and paid for by the hotel/hotel chain. Period.

    Mark, at a time, some place (fill in the blank) would be an absolute dream destination. And, then, the word gets out and it becomes overrun. Baseball great Yogi Berra got it right: no one goes there anymore, it’s too crowded. (He also said that the towels at one hotel were so plush that he could hardly close his suitcase. Ha.) So, while I have my list of hotels (and point strategies), I’m reluctant to share for fear of a “shutdown” (so to speak). Others might feel the same way. Maybe not.
