I guess all those people that said they wouldn’t fly Southwest any more were gaslighting. So predictable. They’ll continue rolling out this playbook as long as you keep rewarding them.

I’ve never been particularly attracted to Southwest. If they were to adopt 2×2 premium seating and roll out lounges, I’d be a player.
As for their profitability, if they didn’t adapt, they’d go out of business. Loyalists would have nothing anyway. Why complain? So, if they’ve found their groove, people stay employed and God bless them.
While I agree with you to a point. Southwest was profitable for 47 straight years. I don’t think they needed to recreate the entire wheel, or throw the baby out with the bathwater like they did. These results will just have activist investors using the same playbook over and over again, grab their money and exit the company they turned on its head.
