Airline food workers serving Detroit vote to strike for better wages, healthcare – Mlive

Thanks to Larry for sending me this one. It sounds like similar votes are taking place across the country.  This will be interesting to see how it plays out and what effect a strike will have on service.  It appears airlines are having issues with their unions quite often, American and Southwest with their mechanics as well.

Stay in a castle with Hyatt points (SLH is a nice win after all) – Frequent Miler

SLH’s partnership with Hyatt is an interesting one and it opens us up to some unique properties.  I love that you can book the rooms on points and that all Hyatt members get good perks at SLH properties.  Just remember that Hyatt usually buries the SLH properties at the bottom of search results.

United Airlines will now hold planes for connecting flyers – thanks to new tool – USA Today

Thanks to Pauline for sending me this one. It sounds like they are letting complex computer systems make decisions on whether or not they can hold a flight for passengers versus gate agents.  It will also direct passengers to their connecting gate quickly.  I think this is a great idea and it will be interesting to see how much it helps.  Another reason you should always download the airline’s app before flying.
