  1. I’m with OMAAT in that the Courtyard facade update doesn’t do anything to improve my stay once inside the hotel.

As a complete aside, I just wanted to say that you write great stuff and I for one appreciate your efforts. Your stuff is interesting, relatable and informative. Thanks.

As another aside – it seems like an aside kind of day – IIRC I believe that you’re a Delta hub captive. To what degree do you find that constraining or problematic or awesome? That may or may not be a worthy topic for a post but as someone who lives in a tertiary city fan I’d be interested in hearing what it’s like from someone who pretty much must use one airline.

    • Thanks for the kind words Christian.

Very true, once inside is when it really matters but I wonder if Courtyard Hotels (being highway hotels often) get a lot of walk in traffic for stays still and not updating has cost them business? Not sure if that makes sense or not but a thought on it.

Delta has their own terminal in Detroit and is a huge presence here but we have solid coverage from other airlines as well so I end up flying other airlines more than 50% of the time so I think it is a good mix. I probably enjoy the Delta experience the most so being in their hub doesn’t bother me as much as being in a United or AA hub would haha
