Reader Email: Hilton Closes Account & Forfeits 98,000 Honors Points – Loyalty Lobby

I wonder if the reader got points for issues while paying on a Hotwire paid stay etc. Something seems a bit off. And a hotel refusing people after a surgery…bizarre.

Bank of America Amtrak Cards No Longer Available – Doctor of Credit

I know Amtrak is a niche area of the hobby but the points are about as valuable as you can get. Remember Benjy’s workaround for getting Amtrak points.

Pretty crazy they couldn’t even go to their own private island. Not sure how that works…

  1. Mark, I have a weird question for you: Can a Marriott Titanium share their status with immediate family members? I was recently speaking with someone who said that his sister – the Titanium – had shared her status with himself and her parents. Supposedly this was done with the full knowledge of Marriott and only applies to immediate family members. From what I understand this is not just adding on another person’s name to a reservation in the Titanium member’s name either. Have you heard anything along these lines?

      • Understood. This was something else, somehow piggybacking off a close family member and utilizing that same status for a paid room with Marriott being aware that the Titanium member would not be present. The person I spoke with even confirmed this by chat. The whole thing sounds impossible to me but the person telling me this is both smart and credible so I figured I’d ask.
