Award Stays Count Towards Hyatt Business Card’s Double Elite Nights

Earlier this week Chase launched a new offer on their World of Hyatt Business card. The points part of the welcome offer didn’t change, but the chance to rack up elite night credits did. The new offer on the card would allow people to earn double elite night credits for the rest of the year. That is pretty awesome for anyone chasing Hyatt Globalist status. The really cool thing is the promotion stacks with the Journey offer as well which means you can earn up to 3 elite nights for every single night you book at resorts that qualify for both promotions.

A reader asked if award stays will count towards the World of Hyatt Business card‘s double night promotion on my post earlier this week. I said that I was pretty sure that it would because they have counted for most every other World of Hyatt promotion but decided to reach out for confirmation as well.  Our Hyatt contact has confirmed this to be the case. Award stays can earn double elite night credits for new cardholders too!

That means if you can find a category 1 off peak award night that would be only 1,750 points per elite night (3,500 per night / 2 elite night credits). If you started with 0 nights that would be a cost of just 105,000 points for top tier status. That is probably a pipe dream, finding 30 nights off peak at a tier one hotel, but it shows how powerful this promo can be in your quest for status.

  1. Hey! I applied for the card on 9/12, approved on 9/22, and have had 11 nights dating back to late August. I have not received any extra nights. To make matters worse, Hyatt is saying the card needs to be used for the double night to count and any night before the approval date will not count. This is the information I have received after numerous calls, and was told the case is now closed. Any thoughts on how I should proceed?

    • It does only count on nights you book after signing up, there are no post dated dates. So they are correct there. You didn’t get double elite nights on any of your stays after 9/22 though?

      • Thanks for the quick reply! That’s correct. We have stays 9/23, 10/16, 10/30, 11/6-11/10, 11/25-11/27. I know the terms stated 8-10 weeks, but I figured the 9/23 stay should have at least posted. I was also told that award nights would not count because “the card wasn’t used”.

        • All of my award nights have counted. Both free night certs and points bookings. But I do have that card on file for the booking for incidentals.

          • Yeah I have a lot of positive DPs about award nights posting so strange that yours haven’t Travis. They tend to do them in chunks towards the end of each month.

          • Only other thing I can think is I know some people missed out if they used a personal referral because the offer didn’t have those terms from the person to person referral. Did you use one of those?

    • I used a link directly from chase. Chase also confirmed that the double night offer is tied to my account. I also received an email from Hyatt that confirmed the card must be used to trigger the double nights. This email also said that 8 of the 9 nights I listed should receive the extra night as long as I “used the business card for the stay”. Mark, I can forward that email over if you’d like to see it.

  2. Any ideas what will happen for stays towards the end of the year if the promo nights post after the first of the year? Will those promo nights still count for 2022 or 2023?

  3. I applied on 10/5. Called in on 10/7 and told I was approved. Had a stay on Sept. My first statement closed Nov 1st. Got the SUB but no double night yet. Should I be worried? Screen at application said double night promo. Got to be based on application date not approval date, right?

    • I wouldn’t worry about it yet. It took people a few months to have them post the first time around.

  4. I just got a response from chase: Qualifying Night Credits (QNC) are not immediate and will take 8 weeks from the date of stay to reflect your member account. Please know that this is a credit card reward, therefore the stays must be charged on your Hyatt business card in order to qualify. Does that mean reward night would not be counted?

      • Greetings! Have you received any reports of people actually having the double elite nights post? I booked a night on points during the promotional period and have not receive the bonus night. Any suggestion on who to contact to rectify this?
