Chase British Airways Transfer Bonus Process
Many people consider Chase and their Chase Ultimate Rewards currency to be the best in the business. While Chase Ultimate Rewards have definitely taken some value hits with the loss of Korean Air and United’s ditching of award charts among other things, there is still a ton of value in the program.
But perhaps the bank is feeling some pressure, because Chase recently did something they had never done before. They released their first ever transfer bonus, a 30% kicker when transferring Chase Ultimate Rewards to British Airways Avios. American Express Membership Rewards and even Citi ThankYou often have bonuses, but Chase held out until now.
Let’s take a look at the Chase Ultimate Rewards British Airways Avios transfer bonus process since this is the first time we have seen it.

Chase Ultimate Rewards British Airways Avios Transfer Bonus Process
To start transferring your Chase Ultimate Rewards to British Airways Avios you must first login to your Chase account and navigate over to the Ultimate Rewards portion of the site. Alternatively you can just go to UltimateRewards.com and use your Chase login to go right there.
Once on the site, select “Transfer to Travel Partners” and you’ll see a list of partners including British Airways. As you can see the Chase Ultimate Rewards British Airways Avios transfer bonus is advertised quite prominently on the site.
Once you see the British Airways option as shown above, click it and select your transfer amount. I needed to transfer over 10K Ultimate Rewards for a last minute Avios booking, so I went ahead and selected that amount.
You’ll see below that the website doesn’t automatically show you the bonus amount in points, but it does remind you of the bonus. For example, the site showed my 10K Chase Ultimate Rewards points = 10K British Airways Avios (the normal transfer ratio), but it did remind me of the bonus below that.
What is even more confusing is that after you complete the Chase British Airways Transfer bonus process the Chase website will show you the incorrect number of points. Unlike American Express Membership Rewards which shows you the bonused amount, Chase only shows you the normal total. Hopefully they will fix this eventually.
Success
Since Chase Ultimate Rewards transfers to British Airways Avios are instant, I was quickly able to ensure I received my 3K bonus Avios. After completing the transfer I logged into my British Airways Avios account, went to check the activity and there it was!
As you can see, despite the Chase Ultimate Rewards website limitations, the Chase Ultimate Rewards to British Airways Avios transfer bonus is coded absolutely correctly. I do hope Chase will update their website to make it less confusing, but everything did work exactly as expected.
Conclusion
Chase Ultimate Rewards used to be the gold standard of convertible bank points, but recent developments have certainly lowered their overall value. Thankfully Chase seems to be committed to offering value and transfer bonuses are a good first step. While we do often see British Airways bonuses from Amex Membership Rewards, this promo came at a great time for me and with an instant transfer I was able to book my flight within minutes!
