Chase Ink 5X Gift Cards
I am a big fan of my Chase Ink Plus & Cash cards. Back in the old days of free flowing MS I used to earn 5X Ultimate Rewards at office supply stores by purchasing Visa and Mastercard gift cards and liquidating them to Bluebird/Serve to pay my bills. That avenue has become tougher and while I still buy the occasional cards during a deal, I don’t do it nearly as often.
Just because Visa/MC purchases are down, I still HIGHLY value my Ink cards, because my points earning strategy has evolved. In addition to paying my cell phone/internet bills, I purchase merchant gift cards with my Ink cards.
Specifically, the following methods earn 5X with Chase Ink:
- Purchasing discounted gift cards from PayPal Digital Gifts on eBay and paying with Ink through PayPal.
- Purchasing gift cards from Gyft and paying with Ink.
- Purchasing discounted gift cards during sales at office supply stores like Staples.
A Dead Opportunity
One other opportunity that I used often was purchasing discounted merchant gift cards from CardCash. Since I could get a discount off of face value and earn 5X points, it was a win/win opportunity. Unfortunately that deal died and we found out last month that purchases from CardCash are only coding as 1X. So what to do?
A New Opportunity
Update: Gift Card Mart has reached out and asked that I convey the following, “We have VERY VERY (x10000) strict anti-fraud measures and every single first-time buyer will go through a first-time customer Order Verification and pass a Knowledge Based Authentication quiz.”
Fortunately a new gift card reseller is now coding as 5X or at least they are supposed to. Gift Card Mart is supposedly now coding as 5X with a Chase Ink. This is a smaller gift card reseller and I haven’t yet tested if this is working, but I believe it will and will be doing a test soon myself.
If you haven’t heard of Gift Card Mart before and are nervous about buying from them perhaps I can help. I CAN say that I have personally done business with them and generally trust them. With that said, I want to make it clear that I don’t endorse nor do I vouch for them as a company. I personally feel fine buying from them, but that is just me personally.
Conclusion
I am always happy to find another source of 5X earning, especially when it comes to buying discounted gift cards. I purchase a lot of gift cards for both personal and business use and being able to rack up both discounts and rewards is important. Feel free to share your experiences with Gift Card Mart and/or 5X data points in the comments!

I can confirm that cardcash earns 5x with Ink.
Is that through Paypal or by directly using Chase Ink? Thx
Through PayPal only.
is the gift card mart 5x still alive?
Yes as far as I know Chase Ink Plus/Cash cards still code as 5X at Gift Card Mart!
Is that using PayPal or direct?
via PayPal.
anywhere else besides gyft to get Amazon gift cards?
gyft doesn’t like when I purchase alot and they keep on shutting my account
At Staples or Office Depot. You can also see if Gift Card Mart has them in stock since they code as 5X as well.
Just confirmed my purchase with them today over the phone, and it’s coded as 5x in my UR activities. Love it! Thanks GiftCardMart!
Great! Thanks for the data point.
They hardly have any good selections on there
This was a deliberate move on the part of Giftcardmart. I sell to them and they knew exactly what they were doing by changing their MCC like this.
They are also a dream to deal with. They are very committed to minimizing fraud. That’s why they only have bulk sellers, so as to ensure the cards they sell are good.
Sweet Thanks!

Why not wait until you actually verify this is 5X? Just blasting a big headline on Twitter and everywhere unverified is unlike most of your headlines, I think.
Or is there a lot of pressure to be the first blogger with a headline?
Others have confirmed so I thought the knowledge would benefit others. I wasn’t the first blog with this information.
it uses Paypal during checkout when paying with credit card. Chase will code this for 5X – hopefully.
It got picked up on Reddit a couple days ago and when I called in to verify my order, the guy I spoke to was nice, but sounded a little out of breath and when I joked about it, he said that they had been slammed with people in the last couple days
Giftcardmart might be great … but every card I want is “out of stock”
