Chase Ink Plus Bonus Match

Chase Ink Plus Bonus Match

Yesterday I covered the details of a new 70K offer on the Chase Ink Plus card. For now it is available in-branch only, but for many it will be worth applying even given the added effort required. But what if you already recently opened a Chase Ink Plus card with the 60K offer? Can you get the bank to match?

In the past, Chase has been fairly good about matching bonuses if you are within 90 days of account opening. While it wasn’t guaranteed, I contacted Chase yesterday after learning of the increased offer. In my short message I mentioned the 70K offer and nicely asked them to match it. It took about a day to hear back, but this is what they wrote.

Dear Shawn,

Thank you for contacting Chase regarding the 70,000 sign up bonus points offer.

We value our relationship and it is important to us that we address your needs as a customer.

I am pleased to inform that I added 10,000 points to your account so that it receives a total of 70,000 bonus points. You will see this adjustment on the next statement.

That works for me. Depending on how you value Ultimate Rewards points, that little bump is worth anywhere from $100-$200. I’ll definitely take it. If you recently picked up an Ink Plus or even an Ink Cash, I highly suggest sending Chase a message sooner rather than later. As this offer becomes more widely known, I am guessing they will start to receive more match requests. It always seems better to get in early with these sorts of things. Happy matching!

  1. Is it still possible to get an Ink card (supposedly for a second home based business)? Does Chase use he same rule regarding max of 5 credit inquiries over 1-2 years for the Ink card? Thanks!!

  2. I used to see it there, but it’s not there anymore.

What I finally found was a round symbol with a + sign inside it at the top left. When you click on that, you get this:

    “Tell us what you think…

I have feedback about the website. ●

I have questions or comments about a product or service.”

Clicking on the second line (questions or comments) brings up the Secure Message Center pop-up.

It seems like they did their best to hide that. 🙁

  3. Chase recently changed their webpage, and I can’t seem to find the link for an SM anymore. Any advice on where to find it? Need to quickly SM them to stay within the 90 days. TIA

  4. So I applied for two INK+ cards, one sometime during the last week of January and one for my wife in March.

I went ahead and attached a flyer of someone holding the 70k offer in-branch. I went with the rewards -> UR submenu. BOTH were initially declined, amusingly for different reasons. After some pushing I was able to get 10k match on both cards and even had $95 annual fee refunded on my card despite never asking for it! Also, I already reached minimum spending on both cards and bonuses for both had already posted.

    My card:
Initial response was declined, citing that there were no offers on my account. I responded back and tried to take the angle of clarifying that I’m hoping for a match to the higher current bonus and that I was not looking for any offers on my account.

Second response noted that I exceeded the 90 day window for match requests. I responded back this time and noted that it had been 88 days since I was approved and that I’m just looking for clarification on this point because I assumed it was based on approval date and I specifically requested that if possible it be escalated to a supervisor.

Next day I receive a response from a “Senior Financial Service Specialist” and the response is below:

The previous response provided was correct. You opened
1/23/2016 and had 90 days to request the new premium
(4/22/2016). Unfortunately you request did not fall within
    our banks policy.

In an effort to improve your experience as a one time
exception the additional 10,000 rewards points has been
added and will appear on the next billing statement. They
are also available for immediate use and the $95 annual
fee credit will post within 1-2 business days.

Boom! The points and the $95 annual fee reversal are already done.

    Wife:
Basically the same initial response as mine, no offers on your account blah blah. I went with the same angle that I wasn’t looking for offers on my account but rather a match to the current offer…. they escalated my inquiry and noted it would take 2 days to receive a response. Got the 10k points the next day.

I was just hoping for one 10k bonus match (the wife) but I definitely scored here and am quite happy with my haul. I think you just need to be persistent to get the points. I tried to be as courteous and thankful as possible in my message, which can never hurt, even went so far as to apologize if there was any confusion that I was inquiring about offers linked to my account.

  5. Easy as pie- 20k extra points for two Sm’s. Replied and posted w/i 8 hrs on a Sunday. Thanks for the heads up!

  6. I sent SMs for my account and my husband’s account at the same time yesterday. I got the “I am happy to extend the 70000 offer to you” response and he got the “We don’t have a similar offer for you” (from different reps). Will try again.

  7. In everyone’s experience, what has been a good way to fight rejection? Tried 2 times via SM. Got a BS answer. I dont get why Chase is being so difficult for matching all of a sudden. I guess a lot of people are requesting this. I blame Shawn. hahaha.

  8. The wife and I each got the 10k extra thanks to your post. 20k extra points outta thin air. Keep up the great work!

  9. I also saw with this Chase branch promotion of 70k that it also came with a no annual fee for first year. Has anyone had sucess matching the waived annual fee?

  10. I was approved for the normal 60k Ink Plus a couple of weeks ago and am now in the middle of my $5k spend. I requested the 70k match through SM and got approved the same day. Here’s a copy (their reply first and my request below):

“Thank you for contacting Chase with your request for
additional 10,000 bonus points on your Ink Plus Business
    account.

I am happy to extend the 70,000 points offer to you. In
order to credit the additional 10,000 bonus points, please
revert once you’ve spent $5,000 within the 3 months from
    your account open date.

You had an original offer on your account for 60,000
points after you spend $5,000.00 in the first three months
from account open date. We will post that to your account
automatically after you’ve met the spending goal.

If you need any other assistance, you can send us a secure
message. We appreciate your business and thank you for
    choosing Chase.

    Thank you,

    Original Message Follows:
    ——————————

It has come to my attention that there is an increased
Ultimate Rewards offer of 70,000 points for the Ink Plus
that is associated with Chase’s recognition of National
Small Business Week. I am requesting that my recently
applied for Ink Plus offer be increased to match the
    current promotion.”

It may help to mention that this increased bonus is “associated with Chase’s recognition of National Small Business Week.” I think Chase is the title sponsor of NSBW so it certainly can’t hurt recognizing that in your request.

You may also notice the service rep’s request that I “…please revert once you’ve spent $5,000…” I can’t ever remember being asked to “revert” before, but you can bet I’ll save a copy of this SM and check back in with them right after meeting spend.

  11. I received exact same wording in their denial. I immediately replied that I value my relationship with Chase and respectfully request they reconsider. 30 minutes later they mathced the offer.

  12. Thanks for the tip SHawn. I had applied in February and sent a secure message last night – Already heard back and the 10,000 has already been added to me UR account.

    • I would doubt that it matters, but if they aren’t waiving the AF on the 70K and they did for you on the 60K then they may point that out. They have done similar things in the past. It never hurts to ask though.

  13. Does it matter if you received the 60k bonus on an in-branch app without the annual fee? Clearly they would be different terms.

  14. Tried secure messaging Chase for 3 separate Ink accounts (all opened in the last 60 days). Received the following message from each agent:

“Thank you for contacting Chase about 70,000 bonus points.

We don’t have a similar offer available for your account
right now, and we can’t match the one you requested. We
know this is not the answer you hoped for, and we’re sorry
for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Our credit card offers vary and change, and new ones
become available on a regular basis. We hope you’ll
continue to check with us for available offers that apply
to your account. We appreciate your loyalty.”

    – Any suggestions moving forward?

    • Yeah, ignore that and ask again.. Got that same message, sent another SM and then got the match approved.

Helps if you have a pic of the flyer attached too.

    • I got the same email, and I replied to the message that I saw a publicly available 70k offer in-branch, and that I wasn’t writing to ask about a targeted offer. I got a reply a few hours later thanking me for the clarification and confirming the extra 10k points had been added to my account.

  15. Same here. I called Chase CS on Wednesday and was told marketing would respond via email to my request. Received the good news today. 10K UR for simply making a phone call.
