Chase Ritz-Carlton $300 Travel Credit

Chase Ritz-Carlton $300 Travel Credit Applies to Restaurants & Grocery Purchases

Chase has recently added some benefits to its credit card lineup. One of those is the expansion of the $300 travel credit on the Chase Sapphire Reserve. Since travel is not viable for now for many cardholders, Chase applies it to grocery store and gas station purchases as well for a limited time. This option is available from June 1 through December 31, 2020.

When this benefit was announced, there was no mention of Chase Ritz-Carlton card, which also has the same $300 annual travel credit. You can no longer apply for this card, but many people still have it.

Restaurants & Grocery Purchases

When new Chase card perks were announced, it was rumored that the $300 travel credit on the Chase Ritz-Carlton would also be expanded. However the categories are a little different from the Chase Sapphire Reserve card. Chase Ritz-Carlton credit would include Restaurants and Grocery Store purchases.

Now Doctor of Credit reports that this benefit has already been launched, and is being applied to purchases starting from July 1st. However, it is not automated.

You need to contact Chase to apply the credit manually for these purchases, the same as you would need to do with eligible travel purchases. It is also not clear if this is available to all cardholders. No information has been officially provided by Chase yet.

Conclusion

Applying the Chase Ritz-Carlton card travel credit to restaurant and grocery purchases makes it much easier to use. It is strange that the categories are different from the Chase Sapphire Reserve card, but as long as grocery purchases are eligible, most people should be happy. One downside is that you need to call in to apply these credits.

  1. Wow! Thanks so much! It took the rep a while to find the offer, but she added up my restaurant and grocery purchases from July 1 til now and it came up to a little over $300. She credit the $300 back to my account immediately! That was a nice surprise for today!

  2. This is awesome. But I’d wait to use it. Right now restaurants are getting 10x points. I’m wondering if using the credit would cause you to lose the points. Just to be safe, I’ll wait till the 10x is over.
