Chase Sapphire Cards 3X on Groceries

Chase Sapphire Cards Will Earn Up to 3X on Groceries Through April

Chase has announced today that starting November 1, you will be able to earn extra points on grocery purchases with your Chase Sapphire credit cards. This is another step from Chase to help cardholders maximize their card benefits while staying home. Starting next month cardholders will have the opportunity to earn as much as 3X on grocery spending. Let’s see the details for each card.

Chase Sapphire Reserve

You can now earn 3x total points on up to $1,000 in grocery store purchases per month from November 1–April 30, 2021, including pickup and eligible grocery store delivery services. It’s automatic—no activation required. See more details here.

Through April 30, 2021, your points are worth 50% with Pay Yourself Back. Just redeem them for statement credits after using your card at grocery stores and dining at restaurants (including takeout and eligible delivery services), home improvement stores and select charitable organizations. Just choose an eligible purchase made with your Sapphire Reserve card from the past 90 days. Then, apply the points for all or part of the purchase and receive a statement credit. LEARN MORE

Chase Sapphire Preferred

You can now earn 2x total points on up to $1,000 in grocery store purchases per month from November 1–April 30, 2021, including pickup and eligible grocery store delivery services. It’s automatic—no activation required. See more details here.

Through April 30, 2021, your points are worth 25% with Pay Yourself Back. Just redeem them for statement credits after using your card at grocery stores and dining at restaurants (including takeout and eligible delivery services), home improvement stores and select charitable organizations. Just choose an eligible purchase made with your Sapphire Preferred card from the past 90 days. Then, apply the points for all or part of the purchase and receive a statement credit. LEARN MORE

Conclusion

Just earn 3X on grocery spend is not huge since you can do better with some other cards. But also being able to redeem those points for a value of 4.5¢ on the same purchases and more, makes this as good as 4.5% back. And groceries is one of the most popular categories out there.

If you already have the Chase Freedom Flex card, you are probably still earning 5X on groceries. But that is capped to $12,000 spent in the first year.

  1. I agree with Superworm…this is just blah. Who in this hobby doesn’t have a Amex Gold card for grocery store play? Nice attempt (Chase) at a boring offer.

    • Exactly. And it doesn’t even make sense for the chase only people… like they get 5x at grocs right now.
