Citi Double Cash Offers $200 Bonus
Citi Double Cash is a popular no-fee credit card that earns 2% cash back on all purchases. But since late March, Citi Double Cash cardmembers started earning ThankYou Points instead. Citi Double Cash cardmembers can still redeem points for cash back, statement credit or check at a value of 1 cent per point. But the points are more valuable when used at travel partners. And for the first time the card comes with a welcome offer, worth $200. We’ll go through why that should be intriguing to some.
Update 11/14/22: This offer is supposed to end sometime today.
The Offer
- Earn $200 cash back (or 20,000 ThankYou Points) after spending $1,500 on purchases in the first 6 months of account opening.
- 0% Intro APR for 18 months on balance transfers.
- No Annual Fee

Why This Could Be Interesting To Some
The long time plan to gain a Double Cash was to sign up for a more valuable card like the Citi Premier, which currently has an 80,000 point increased offer, and then product change into a Citi Double Cash. That was because the Double Cash didn’t have a welcome offer and this was a way to kill two birds with one stone so to speak. That plus the 48 month Citi application rule made this the best option.
But, this offer does NOT have the 24 month language. The fine print only notes that the offer is for “New cardmembers only.” That means you could get the Citi Double Cash and the Citi Premier and get the welcome offer for both etc. This was one of the reasons I had my wife grab a Citi Custom cash when it first came out.
This only makes sense for people already outside of Chase 5/24 though.
Citi Double Cash $200 Welcome Offer: Final Thoughts
This is the best offer we have seen for the Citi Double Cash card. Usually there’s no signup bonus at all, and occasionally we see a $100 bonus, but getting a $200 is very rare. Now the bonus is even more valuable in the form of 20,000 ThankYou points. Throw in the fact that the card is outside of the normal 48 month ThankYou point application rules and you have a nice, easy win on your hands.

[…] Replace 11/3/22: Deal is ready to finish on 11/14/22. Hat tip to MtM […]
Mark, for the past handful of days, the $200 bonus language has been removed from the application page itself. This is different from the splash page (landing page) that your blog directs to. Yes, while there is a Citi page that mentions the $200 bonus, clicking “Apply Now” on that page takes me to the official application, where no bonus is mentioned. There is nothing in the terms either. This of course makes me nervous to apply, only to be told there was no bonus offer attached to my application. Do you have any clarity on this?
Looks like it has been pulled from our links already but I still see it here if you are interested.

Thanks Mark. But that link just goes to a landing page discussing the $200 bonus. If you click “Apply Now”, the application page itself has no mention of the $200 bonus. This is concerning, considering both the Premier and the Custom Cash DO mention the sign-up bonuses on the application page directly.
Are we safe to assume the $200 bonus is attached if opening the application via the landing page you linked to?
I would take a screen shot of it and you should hopefully be covered there. Some risk is involved there too. May be worth getting a Citi Premier 80K offer and then product changing to the Double Cash after a year if it is of big concern to you.
For my clarification- if I opened a Premier a few months ago, I could still open this Doublecash and get the bonus?
I haven’t noticed any family terms in the offer details.
