Citi Premier Spending Offer

One of the few banks I like getting mail from is Citi. That is because they love sending their cardmembers spending offers every few months and those offers always seem to come via snail mail. One such offer hit my mailbox this week and it was for my Citi Premier card.  If I max out the offer I should be able to earn an additional 3,000 ThankYou points worth at least $30.

Details of the Offer

  • I must activate the offer by 1/31/2022
  • Spend $1500 on purchases each month with my Citi Premier card from 12/1/2021 or the date I enroll, whichever is later, through 2/28/21.
  • Earn 1,000 ThankYou points each month after spending $1,500 on purchases. Purchases must post by the end of each month to qualify.

My Thoughts on the Offer

I often skip the Citi mailers because they are usually 5X-10X earning offers in limited categories. There will be no skipping the offer this time around. The fact that it is an open ended spending offer, not category specific, makes it a pretty easy one to hit and requires no mental bandwidth.  I will likely complete the spend in the Citi Premier’s 3X earning grocery category. With the bonus points it will be like earning 3.67 points per dollar on $4500 in grocery spend.

Did anyone else get this Citi Premier spending offer?  Let me know in the comments.

  1. Unless you’re already planning to spend on that card, this offer seems pretty weak. It would not motivate me to use the card for 1000 points/month (at least 3 trips to the grocery store).
