Citi Prestige Card to Earn 5X Online

During the current pandemic, credit card spending habits have shifted to online and essential purchases. This is even more evident for premium travel card holders that do not have any travel expenses currently. As such, Citi is announcing a new, limited-time offer for Prestige cardholders.

5X Online

Citi Prestige cardholders can now enjoy 5 ThankYou Points per $1 spent on all online purchases up to 7,500 points, through August 31, 2020. Examples of eligible purchases include the below:

  • Retailer website orders
  • Online grocery orders
  • Online drugstore orders

And, as previously announced, Citi has also expanded the categories of purchases that qualify for the $250 Travel Credit benefit. In addition to Travel purchases, purchases made with a Citi Prestige Card at Supermarkets and Restaurants (including takeout) will also count toward this Expanded $250 Travel Credit benefit between May 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020.

The changes that are automatically going into effect for existing cardholders with an open account as of May 22nd.

Conclusion

Another temporary benefit for Citi Prestige cardholders. It’s good to see issuers make these changes to keep their credit card useful during these difficult times. We have seen similar moves by Amex, Chase and more recently US Bank.

  1. What I need is a annual fee reduction on the Prestige. My annual fee comes in July and want to keep 1 more year for the hotel benefits. Previously locked in at $350 so unless annual fee reduction, my yearly fee will be quite a bit more substantial and probably not worth keeping.
