Citi ThankYou Transfer Bonus Virgin Atlantic

Citi ThankYou Transfer Bonus Virgin Atlantic

While Chase never has transfer bonuses and American Express has them often, Citi sits somewhere in the middle. Thankfully, they have now released a new Virgin Atlantic transfer bonus that may be of interest. Let’s take a look.

The Offer

Transfer ThankYou Points to Virgin Atlantic and receive 30% Bonus Flying Club miles.

Citi ThankYou Transfer Bonus Virgin Atlantic

Key Terms

  • Bonus Flying Club Miles offer is valid for Point Transfers to Virgin Atlantic completed between 8/30/18 12:00 AM ET and 10/13/18 11:59 PM ET.
  • For the Bonus Flying Club Miles offer, you will receive 1.30 Flying Club Miles for each ThankYou Point transferred during the promotional period listed above.
  • That is 0.30 Bonus Flying Club Miles in addition to the base redemption rate of 1 ThankYou Point to 1 Flying Club Mile, for a total of 1.30 Flying Club Miles.
  • In order to transfer Points to Virgin Atlantic using the Points Transfer feature on thankyou.com, you must have an eligible Virgin Atlantic Flying Club account, and the first and last names on your ThankYou account and Virgin Atlantic Flying Club account must match.

Analysis

This transfer bonus matches the 30% bonus American Express is running until September 12, 2018. Since I value ThankYou and Membership Rewards roughly the same, my decision as to where to transfer from would be based on which program I have a healthier balance in. As of now I earn more ThankYou points due to my AT&T Access More card, so I would probably transfer from Citi instead of Amex.

Keep in mind that Virgin Atlantic Flying Club will be undergoing some changes as they become the loyalty program of all Virgin brands. What exactly those changes are we don’t know yet.

Conclusion

Virgin Atlantic is probably the most common “transfer bonus partner”, but at least it’s nice that Citi is throwing us a bone. I am still waiting for the day that Chase surprises us with a transfer bonus of some sort, but I’m not holding my breath.
