Club Carlson Status Match How To
As many long time readers of Miles to Memories know, I love status matches of all kind. While airline matches are more rare, hotel status matches are fairly common place. It seems there is also a move towards making these matches easier to get. For awhile last year we saw Hyatt match status and Hilton is still doing a status match as well.
Club Carlson has also had a status match for awhile. A few years ago before I had their co-branded credit card, I matched from IHG Platinum (which I got from the IHG Rewards Club credit card) to Club Carlson Gold. I then used that to get some perks in European Radisson Blu hotels, although it didn’t make much difference here at home.
After I got the Club Carlson credit card that came with Gold status, I used the status sporadically, but didn’t feel the card was worth keeping given the loss of the Bonus Award Night, so I downgraded to the no annual fee version (with the strangest retention call) and with that downgrade my status dropped to Silver. Now, it seems that Club Carlson has rolled out their status match officially, so I decided to give it a go once again.
How to Status Match to Club Carlson
Club Carlson has made requesting a status match very easy. To request a match, send an email to statusmatch@carlsonrezidor.com and include “Status Match” in the subject line.
In the body of the email include the following:
- Your full name
- Club Carlson membership number
- Name of other frequent guest program
- Membership number and tier level of the other frequent guest program
- Copy of your membership card from the other frequent guest program (PDF or JPG files only)
You can find the full details and terms of the status match here.
Timeframe For the Match
After sending the email, I received the following auto-response:
Thank you for your comments, they have been received and submitted to the Club Carlson Member Service Center.
You are a valued guest and addressing your needs is our highest concern. At this time we are experiencing higher than expected email volume and appreciate your patience. We will respond to your email as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
The Club Carlson Member Services Team
In other words, expect the match to take a bit of time, but if you have competing status then you should be able to get matched to Club Carlson elite status without too much hassle.
Conclusion
To be honest I’m not sure if I will qualify for another match given I was matched a few years ago, but I figure it can’t hurt to try. If you are interested in getting this match then it should take less than 5 minutes to send over the information. And then the waiting game begins. Good luck!

A couple weeks ago, I matched my Wife to Club Carlson. We had a stay on points coming up @ BWI. Initially, they would not match because she had matched a few years ago. I didn’t remember that match so I replied back that she never received a match. They replied w/ a date so I looked it up. Sure enough, she was matched just a month before she got the CC which gave her Gold anyway. The e-mails went back and forth and I told them I thought their date for the match was actually when she got the CC. They relented and gave her gold status. When we had our stay @ BWI, we had made arrangements to leave our car for 6 days @ $5 per days. As a gold member they gave us the option of receiving 500 points or free parking for the 6 days. We took the parking which saved us $30. It paid off to be persistent.
