Credit Cards Free Food Delivery

Looking to get free food delivery—or close to it—because of credit cards in your wallet? In this post, we’ll break down credit cards that offer benefits in this vein. Not all benefits here are equal, so we’ll cover the various credit cards and the type of benefit offered (free delivery, food credits, etc.) to help you understand what perks your cards offer.

Some of these offers may have changed since posting.

Credit Cards Free Food Delivery

Uber Credits – Use For Uber Eats

Several credit cards offer monthly credits for Uber. You can use these with Uber Eats, as well, to get free food delivery.

The Platinum Card from American Express – offers $15 monthly and $35 in December as credits added to your Uber account. You also get Eats Pass, which provides free delivery on orders over $12 and up to 5% discount on eligible orders. Eats Pass costs $9.99 per month normally. You need to add the card to your Uber payments options, in order to have this benefit added to your account each month. This is a temporary perk, however.

American Express Gold Card – offers $10 per month as a credit in your Uber account. Remember that you must add the card to your Uber profile to receive the monthly credits from Amex. You’ll also earn 4x on spending with restaurants when using this card.

American Express Green Card – offers free Eats Pass temporarily. Notice that you don’t get any monthly account credits, but your Amex Green cards can provide free food delivery after you buy the food. You’ll also earn 3x on restaurants. Remember to add the card to your Uber payments profile to get the benefit.

Please note that you can only use these credits for food delivery on existing cards. As of December 2021, Eats Pass perks no longer apply to new accounts. Plus, this was a temporary benefit and is no longer free after your one-year period.

Doordash

DashPass From DoorDash

Another food delivery service that you may have perks with is DoorDash and its premium service called DashPass. To get free food delivery with these credit cards, orders must be over $12 and from restaurants with a green check mark next to them in the app/on the website.

Chase Sapphire Reserve – offers $60 in annual credits with DoorDash spending, plus complimentary DashPass. Note that the DashPass benefit is not permanent, and after they start charging you this will eat into your $60 of annual credits. Your free DashPass membership should last at least 12 months. You can read the details here.

Chase Sapphire Preferred – does not offer any additional credits but gives free DashPass membership to eliminate delivery fees. Free period should last at least year, and details are here.

Chase Freedom, Chase Freedom Unlimited, and Chase Freedom Flex – 3 months of free DashPass membership to get delivery fees waived.

Chase Slate Card – 3 months of free DashPass membership, which eliminates delivery fees on eligible orders.

Chase co-brand cards – Southwest, Marriott, United, Disney, IHG, British Airways, Aer Lingus, Iberia, and World of Hyatt cards have varying offers but all should be eligible for 12 free months of DashPass. Details are here.

Grubhub

GrubHub and Seamless

There are two very different perks at play here, depending on which card(s) you have.

Chase Sapphire Reserve – this card offers Lyft Pink membership, which typically costs $19.99 per month. How does this give you free food delivery? Lyft Pink recently added GrubHub+ and Seamless+ perks (typically $9.99 per month). This will give you free delivery on orders over $12.

American Express Gold Card – receive $10 per month as statement credits from spending on orders with GrubHub and Seamless, as well as The Cheesecake Factory, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Boxed and participating Shake Shack locations. Enrollment is required before using the perk. Enroll from the “benefits” page in your American Express online account.

Amex Dining Credits – 2021 Only

We covered this when the temporary benefits came out, which you can read here. Depending on which card you have, there are temporary dining credits each month that you can use. These could be used for food delivery, as long as it codes as “restaurant” on your credit card statement.

Hilton Cards
Delta Cards
Bonvoy Cards

You should be able to locate these offers in your Amex Offers section.  Be sure to activate the offer beforehand. These offers only apply to cardmembers who had the card prior to January 1, 2021.

Credit Cards Free Food Delivery: Final Thoughts

There are numerous credit cards with free food delivery perks, whether they come as statement credits, memberships, or waived fees. Some are temporary, while others are permanent. Rarely, cards give you a yearly spending amount, but most give the credits monthly. Ensure you understand the terms of how the offers work and whether you need to enroll first to receive the benefits. Enjoy your free food.
