Delta Flight Turns Around After 2 Passengers Refuse to Wear Masks

A Delta Airlines flight had to return to the gate after a pair of customers refused to wear masks during the flight. Flight 1227 was heading to Atlanta but returned to Detroit Metro Airport because two travelers “were non-compliant with crew instructions,” WXYZ Detroit reports.

The flight eventually departed for Atlanta after the delay, but it highlighted yet another incident involving refusal to wear face masks during flights. Delta has been one of the more strict airlines when it comes to enforcing its mask policy.

Delta requires everyone to wear a face mask during flights, except when meal are served. Guests who have a medical condition and cannot wear a mask are required to complete a “Clearance-To-Fly” process before being permitted to travel. The virtual consultation process could take up to an hour and is required for each trip.

To ensure social distancing and help contain the possibility of spreading the virus, Delta has also limited food and beverage service and  no longer allows crew to assist passengers with their luggage.

  1. Yeah Delta. Glad to see an airline actually enforcing this. Delta should sue to recover the cost of turning the plane around.

  2. i feel like people intentionally not to wear masks to get attentions. what a waste time to pass security, boarding, sit on the plane, take off, etc. I am sure they have the masks with them, just chose not to wear them. I will be pissed if i am on the plane, wasting everyone’s time. Kudos to Delta Airlines!

  3. Take their names and ban them, Delta. What a-holes! Flying on an airline is not a right but a privilege. Hire a private jet if you want your own rules.

  4. I believe the mask wearing will now be for a very long length of time. I do not believe there will be a vaccine for COVID 19, only a way to manage symptoms. So, we need to get used to it – and the mask wearing will be one way. It would be interesting for Delta and other airlines to define what would be needed for the masks to go away.
