How My Son Got Trolled by a Disney Photopass Photographer & Why It Was Hilarious!

Disney Photopass Trolled

I completely understand that Disney is something you either get or something that makes you deeply judge strangers who do. Even for those who don’t get it, Disney can be a necessary evil since children tend to love it. Thus, I think many of you have been or will be on a Disney family vacation at some point.

If you’re ever on that type of vacation, then you know it isn’t all the big smiles and pleasant memories that an Instagram pic would indicate. There are tempter tantrums, family fights and even children who seemingly become possessed by the devil once they pass through the turnstiles.

Disney’s Revenge?

Disney employees have to live through this every day of course, so I’m sure they have their little ways of keeping themselves amused. Enter my son…..

The other day we were at Disney California Adventure near the statue of Walt Disney & Mickey Mouse. We waited a minute or two for a Photopass photographer to take our photos as we wanted a picture of my son and daughter with Walt. All was well until it was our turn and my daughter decided she didn’t want to take a picture with her 18 year old brother & Uncle Walt.

In the way that toddlers do, she became very vocal and made it clear she wasn’t participating. This lead to us telling our frustrated son to take the photo by himself. He wasn’t all that excited in the first place and this embarrassing display by his sister didn’t help either plus the sun was in his eyes. The result wasn’t great. Let’s just say he didn’t look as happy as someone should when taking their picture with Walt & Mickey.

Try not to get blinded by those shoes. :O

There are several photographs in fact that look all pretty similar to the one above. A few different poses with Walt & Mickey, but not much of a smile. The moment passed fairly quickly and about an hour later when the original photos showed up in our Photopass account we had a laugh at how he looked and moved on.

The Ultimate Troll

Then, later in the day after I had added some new on ride photos I popped open the Disneyland app again to check for photos and I noticed something completely new. Instead of trying to describe its awesomeness, let me just go ahead and drop it below.

Now, to be fair I am not sure if a computer did this automatically, if the photographer did it or someone else in a Photopass office had a hand, but it is AMAZING. Not only was it probably a way for a Disney castmember to get a laugh, but it also made our entire family laugh. Even my son cracked a smile! They pretty much nailed this one.

Conclusion

It’s the little memories like this that make a Disney vacation worth it. Have you ever been trolled by a Photopass photographer or another Disney cast member? How do cast members “get back” at rude guests?

  1. This is called a magic shot. A lot of the photographers can do this (you should ask, if your party is up for doing something fun) and will ask you to pose a certain way (is, hold your hands up palms up) to make certain things appear (such as Tinkerbell, or a bunch of balloons)
