Drizly Data Breach Lawsuit
A lawsuit has been filed against Drizly over a data breach that happened in July 2020, in which an unauthorized party accessed certain personally identifiable customer’s information. Drizly is a company which operates an online e-commerce platform for alcoholic beverages from local retailers. You can place orders online or through the app.
The lawsuit alleges that the breach caused consumers’ information, including at least email addresses, dates of birth, hashed passwords, delivery addresses, phone numbers, and IP addresses, to be improperly exposed.
Drizly has now agreed to pay a total of no less than $1,050,000 and no more than $3,150,000 for cash payments to eligible Class Members and provide credits against Drizly’s service fee for orders placed through its platform, not to exceed $447,750.00 in total. The final approval hearing has been set for October 26, 2021.
Eligibility
In the Preliminary Approval Order, the Court preliminarily approved the following Settlement Class:
- All Persons in the United States whose customer data was compromised in the data intrusion security incident that Drizly made public on July 28, 2020, in which an unauthorized party accessed certain personally identifiable information of Drizly’s customers.
Not everyone who fits this description will be a Class Member.
Payout
If the Settlement is approved, each member of the Settlement Class who submits a timely and valid Claim Form will receive an individual cash payment in the amount of $14.00 and a credit of $1.99 against Drizly’s service fee for orders placed through its platform.
The individual cash payment may be increased or decreased, and the credit may be decreased, depending on the total number of claims that receive approval. Under the Settlement, Drizly also agrees to adopt or maintain certain data security measures for a period of no less than two year that are valued at approximately $2,300,000.
Filing a Claim
You can file a claim here, but you need a Claimant Code. This is provided on the upper left-hand corner of the notice that was sent to class members. The deadline to file a claim is also July 28, 2021.
If you did not receive the email notice but believe that you are eligible to file a claim, or cannot located your Claimant Code, you can contact the Settlement Administrator at info@alcoholdeliverydatabreach.com or call toll-free 1-877-935-5375 and provide your full name and the email address associated with your Drizly account.
