A Few Upcoming Travel Conferences
There are a few upcoming travel conferences that I have my eye on. Sure FTU is the largest and the one with the most publicity, but sometimes smaller conferences provide greater opportunities for networking. Lets take a look at a couple.
Family Travel for Real Life 2
I am really exciting to be participating in this conference for a second time. This one day conference will be held in Charlotte at the Hyatt House Center City on March 7, 2015.
The Hyatt House Center City has great reviews and was just reduced from a Category 3 to a Category 2 during the recent Hyatt changes. Also, from now until December 20, 2014 you can get an additional 10% off tickets with the code “Diamond”.
FT4RL2 is about taking this hobby of ours and looking at it through the eyes of family travel. Every speaker is knowledgeable in both miles & points and traveling with a family. If you are looking for expert advice on both family travel and miles & points (with a little MS thrown in) then this is the conference for you.
You can find all of the speaker & registration information here. I also did a write up about the first conference if you are interested. Hope to see you there!
TravelConOC
TravelConOC will be held on February 28, 2014 in Anaheim, just about a mile from Disneyland. This is the conference to attend if you are into manufactured spend. (Although FT4RL2 has an amazing speaker on MS as well.)
TravelConOC will be an intimate event with only 125 tickets total and each of the bloggers associated with the conference are knowledgeable and experienced.
Early bird tickets have sold out, but you can still purchase tickets for the regular price of $129. Head over to their event page for the full details. I am currently working to clear my schedule so I can attend.
FTU & FTU Advanced DFW
Tickets went on sale this morning for FTU & FTU Advanced. The events are being held the weekend of April 17-19, 2014 at the Hyatt Regency DFW. That hotel is directly connected to the airport, making it super convenient. (My review of the hotel.)
Just like this past weekend in Washington DC, the regular FTU track costs $149 and the FTU Advanced track costs $249. There is a lot to learn at these events and a lot of people to meet, but keep in mind they can get overwhelming with so many people in attendance. You can find registration information here.
Conclusion
The only one of these three events I have anything to do with is Family Travel For Real Life 2. If you decide to come out to Charlotte for that event, I guarantee you will learn a lot. Since my wife and I are expecting a baby at the end of March, I most likely won’t be at FTU, but I am hoping to get to TravelConOC.
In the end the decision to attend one or all of these conferences is personal. The smaller conferences seem to be my preference, but I know people who love the larger ones as well. Enjoy!

Where do I find a list of conferences?
I’m not sure if there is one list, but I post about them when they come up. Right now there aren’t any specific dates announced for future conferences other than the Chicago Seminars. Other conferences to look for are Family Travel for Real Life, Travelcon and Frequent Travel University.
When is 2015 Chicago seminars? Can’t find via google
I’ll be at FT4RL! Booked a hotel for TravelCon but waiting to see if flight prices drop before I buy my conference ticket.
meant to ask….is there a promo code for booking the host hotel?
I just bought my ticket for FTU advanced in Dallas, don’t forget about FTU advanced in San Diego in early March. I wish I could attend family travel for real life, but it is the same weekend as FTU advanced San Diego. Have a great time there though.
I didn’t list San Diego, since it is sold out. Hopefully I will see you at TravelConOC!
