Free Luxury Elite Status
Leading Hotels of the World is a collection of 375 luxury hotels. They describe themselves as, “Comprised of more than 375 hotels in 75 countries, Leading Hotels is one of the largest luxury hotel collections in the world. The Leaders Club is the loyalty program of these properties. They have a standard membership and an unlimited membership. Standard costs $150 per year and Unlimited costs a whopping $1,200 per year!
Among the benefits of the standard level are:
- Earn one complimentary night at a Leading Hotel for every five stays you complete.
- Receive complimentary continental breakfast for two each day.
- One-category room upgrade (Subject to availability at check-in)
- Complimentary internet access.
- Special rate privileges available only to Leaders Club Members
- Early check-in, late check-out considerations
- Unique welcome gift for you at each Leading Hotel
- Sixt Platinum status
You can find the full list of benefits and what else is included with the Unlimited tier here.
Free Leader’s Club Membership
Currently The Biltmore is running a promotion giving free standard Leader’s Club status. ($150 value). I found this at Extreme Hotel Deals and immediately filled out the form, signed it and then sent it in an email as instructed. It took about 10 days, but then I received the following email:
Ah there is nothing like getting something for “free”. To make sure I did indeed have the status, I clicked the link in the email and for some reason it made me reset the password on my account. (Probably since I had never set one.) After all of that was done, I checked my account and found that I did have status and it was good for one year.
Upgrading to Unlimited Tier
If you are interested in the added benefits of Unlimited status such as airport transfers and lounge access (I am not), then you actually can upgrade your “free” status to unlimited for only $1,050. In other words, you get credit for the $150 cost of the membership you were given for free. This discount may be worth it for some, but I’ll stick with my normal membership for now.
Conclusion
I do admit I am sort of an elite status junkie, but when I can get it for free then why not? The big benefit of this status I think is the free breakfast, although the welcome gift, internet access, room upgrade and potential for late checkout are valuable as well. If you are going to be staying at one of their admittedly expensive properties or just want to feel important, go ahead and give this promotion a try.
