Free Southwest A-List Status
Southwest has been busy today, sending out targeted emails to several people with a few different offers. They have been randomly handing out free Southwest A-List status (for a limited time) and promotional offers for earning extra Rapid Rewards points. There doesn’t seem to be any kind of rhyme or reason as to why. I received a few emails about it so I don’t think it is highly targeted.
Upgraded To Southwest A-List Status
The email going out says:
Your Name, A-List status is yours.
The status is only good until April 30, 2022 so not hugely useful unless you have flights upcoming over the next month.
Terms
Only the Rapid Rewards® Member (Your Name) who received this email/offer from Southwest Airlines® is eligible for this promotion. Offer is nontransferable. Member must register for this promotion between February 17 and April 30, 2022 (“Promotional Time Period”) to qualify for Promotional A-List status through April 30, 2022.
Earn Bonus Points After 1 Flight
The email going out says:
5,000 Rapid Rewards bonus points are within reach!
Terms
Register for this offer between 2/17/2022 and 3/17/2022, then book and fly one qualifying round trip flight* or two qualifying one-way flights* between 2/17/2022 and 3/31/2022.
*Qualifying flights include flights paid entirely with dollars, Southwest LUV Vouchers®, gift cards or travel funds, and with no portion of the purchase price paid for with Rapid Rewards® points.
This is a pretty solid deal if you have an upcoming flight anyway. You should be able rebook the flight you have, as long as the difference in price isn’t much, and get a bonus for it.
Final Thoughts
These are both targeted offers but hopefully they went out to quite a few of our readers. I think the 5K in points after a roundtrip flight is the better offer since it could be on dirt cheap flights or for one you were planning on taking anyway. I don’t find free Southwest A-list status all that valuable since the perks are not that great. Plus, it is only good for a month and a half which is pretty limited. Most people will only have a flight or two during that time frame, if at all.
There doesn’t seem to be a rhyme or reason on who was targeted. Some people that got emails haven’t had a Southwest flight in years while others have flown quite a bit recently.
Let us know in the comments if you see any other offers different from the ones above.

Got the A-List offer. Going to use it for status matches/challenges to United, Alaska, and Delta hopefully.
My wife got the A-list promo but she just had her long time A-list status expire and the end of 2021.
I received the 5k offer, but all my flights would be significantly more than 5k to rebook.
That blows
