Southwest Schedule Extension

Southwest Schedule Extension

The Southwest schedule extension finally came through today. They bumped it back a few weeks earlier this month. With this extension you can now book upcoming holiday travel. Don’t forget about Southwest’s 40% off sale that ends today either. Update 4/23/26: The latest schedule extension just went into effect.

Details

Today, Southwest Airlines extended its flight schedule through January 5, 2027. Previously you were only able to book until October 31, 2026.

Booking advanced reservations on Southwest can be difficult since the schedule is normally only available on average about 6 months out. Now, with this latest schedule extension, you can start planning your travels throughout the holidays and early 2027.

Next Extension

Currently, the next Southwest extension should take place on May 28, 2026 and will extend the schedule until March 3, 2027. They sometimes move this date back as it gets closer though.

Watch The Prices

Sometimes Southwest comes in heavy handed on schedule extension day. If you do book something then be sure to come back a few days / weeks later to double check your price. If the price has dropped then be sure to rebook to get some Rapid Rewards back, or a flight credit for future use for the difference.

Southwest Holiday Flights Open

Hopefully checking the schedule early will result in some discounted flight bookings. It is probably wise to book early and don’t forget to check regularly to see if the price drops so you can get a refund.
