Got married in Venice in 1993 (same place as George & Amal Clooney)…divorced in Edinburgh in 1997. Had such a great time with both, lol. Except for running around to various consulates and city government offices in Venic, Milan and NYC to get things “stamped” with stamps from a newsstand where they kept selling me postage stamps instead of pay-the-government stamps – and my Italian was good enough to make that clear. Still can’t believe I got married on the day and at the time I had originally scheduled, given that obstacle course!
Clever idea by the gummint there in Lazio. I am proud of my people there in Italy. But after 4 marriages, 2.2 MILLION dollars would not be enough to get me to get married again! LOL!
Good luck to all of those who give it a whack, though!!
