Google Flights Adds New Features
Google Flights has two new features that I believe our readers will find very useful. Yesterday our friend Gilbert over at God Save the Points let us know about some awesome new tools available for holiday travelers looking for the best deal on flights and hotels. The other new addition allows you to do a more broad search for good deals on flights throughout the year.
Holiday Travel Planner
To help you save money on holiday travel, this feature shows holiday price trends, tips and a few new tools from Google Flights and Hotel Search.
This innovative tool shows how prices change—based on booking date and destination for flights to popular holiday destinations. This even tells you if you’re getting good hotel deals for Thanksgiving, December holidays and New Years.
Flight Assessment Feature
When you search in Google Flights on your phone for Thanksgiving flights, it shows you whether the price you’re seeing for a given flight is good, typical, or high—based on historical prices and prices available so far this year.
Explore Map will Now Show you Good Deals on Flights
If you’re flexible on your travel location or dates there are new ways to find great deals in the Explore Map in Google Flights. I use the feature regularly and now I can save some time since I no longer have to compare prices myself. With Explore Maps you can search a generic time frame or specified dates for specific destinations or just move the map around and Google Flights will highlight cities with good deals in green.
I realize this explanation is a bit confusing so here’s an example. This is a search for a weekend trip at any point in the next 6 months leaving from NYC. I love how they not only tell you it’s a good deal but also how much you’re saving!
Conclusion
Google Flights just keeps getting better. Hopefully they expand these features for year round use since I’m not a huge holiday traveler. Either way, I love it. I’d be a very rich woman if I had a dollar for every time I gushed about the genius and beauty of Google Flights.
