Hilton HHonors Status Match Complete
Back on Wednesday I covered Hilton’s announcement of a new status match program for elite members of other programs. The company’s announcement on Flyertalk didn’t give a lot of details, but Hilton eventually confirmed via Twitter that they would be matching some people to their Diamond tier.
In that tweet they only confirmed that Hyatt Diamond members will receive Hilton Diamond, but I suspect top level elites from other programs will as well. While I can’t speak to that yet, I can confirm that my account has indeed been upgraded to HHonors Diamond. For the record I sent over a screenshot from my Hyatt Diamond account.
Here is the email I received:
Dear Mr. Coomer,
Thank you for the reply. I have reviewed the attachment and upgraded
your account to HHonors Diamond tier. You will be Diamond through March
31, 2017. Please let us know if we can assist with anything else.
I also received a separate email regarding my new Diamond status. It shows my status expiration date of March 31, 2017. My account also reflects the Diamond status when I am logged in.
Hyatt Diamonds?
If you are a current Hyatt Diamond member, no matter if you earned your status the hard way or if you were recently matched, then you should have no issue getting matched to Hilton HHonors Diamond. In my case it took a few days and I expect they are probably backed up due to the holiday. If you sent in your information on Wednesday, then I would look for your upgrade to come through soon!
Conclusion
While I have not been staying at Hilton properties nearly as often as I used to, this match has me motivated to target some properties for an upcoming trip to Spain since I have found their hotels and service in Europe to be very good. Even though HHonors Diamond is not the best top tier status, it is still decent and I’m happy to have it.

[…] If you don’t currently have Hilton Gold status or higher, then this is a great benefit as well. You often get lounge access with Gold (not guaranteed) and are at least guaranteed breakfast at most properties. I have found Hilton HHonors Gold is the best mid-tier status around and gladly enjoyed it before Hilton generously gave me Diamond status recently. Hyatt Diamond, HILTON Gold, SPG gold. Hilton matched me to gold. Very disappointing. Hyatt Diamond equals my already status of Hilton Gold?

I find it pretty disgusting that Hyatt has caused this, I stay 60+ nights and work hard for HH diamond.
The fact that Hyatt matched many many SPG Golds to Diamond, and now they will inevitably be HH Diamond too makes me sick.
Do you have Spg platinum ? Which properties in Spain?
It all sounds so simple. But this offer can easily go the same way as Hyatt’s. Congrats on your Hilton Diamond, but a lot of people will probably end up only as lowly silvers. Best to have reasonable expectations that they will not give out 1000’s of diamond upgrades. But, no harm in trying. At least you got in before the crowds.
