What Are These Points Worth
Points you earn from the sign up bonus and spending on these cards are worth 1 cents a piece when redeemed for statement credit. Premier cardholders can redeem for 1.5 cents per points as statement credit for travel expenses.
Points can also be transferred to travel partners, but only British Airways, Singapore Airlines & Cathay Pacific.
HSBC says that these points do not expire, but that’s a bit misleading. If there’s 12 months of inactivity on your HSBC card, HSBC Bank reserves the right to close your Account. If that happens, all of your accumulated points are immediately forfeited and will not be available for redemption.
Conclusion
These bonuses make sense mostly for those who have a Premier banking relationship with HSBC, since it is required to apply for the highest bonused card. If that’s the case, then you should look at the HSBC Premier World MasterCard, because $600 is a good bonus.
For most most people these cards might not be worth the hassle.
Would you consider any of them?
