Hyatt Amex Offer Maximizing

Hyatt Amex Offer Maximizing

There are a ton of Amex Offers expiring at the end of this month and I thought I would share how I plan to maximize some of them. Yesterday I covered the Staples Amex Offer and today I’m going to talk Hyatt. As I covered back in October, many people were targeted with a Hyatt Amex Offer that expires at the end of December.

The offer is as follows:

Spend $200 or more and get $60 back as a statement credit. Good between today and 12/31/2016. Single use per card.

Per my original post, the terms do exclude the purchase of both eGift and physical gift cards, but thankfully there is some good news. A couple of readers have reported success when buying physical gift cards at the front desk of a Hyatt.

My Plan

This weekend I am staying at a Hyatt hotel. I am planning to bring all of my Amex cards which have the offer and will purchase $200 Hyatt gift cards at the front desk. If this works, then I will be locking in an amazing 30% discount on future Hyatt stays. I also believe Hyatt gift cards purchased directly should be more fraud proof. Either way I’ll keep receipts in case I have any issues later.

Conclusion

If you have this very lucrative offer on your cards, then don’t forget to use it before the end of the year. While I have not personally tried buying gift cards during this offer (I have successfully done it with previous offers), several readers have had success and I do believe it will work. For me it is definitely worth a try given the overall discount!

  1. Thanks for the heads-up. I’ll tried one Hyatt near me weeks ago. They said they didn’t have any gift cards. I’ll try another one tomorrow.

  2. I tried buying some Marriott gift cards at a Courtyard (to unlock the Amex offer). Courtyard said Marriott only sells gift cards online. Fwiw

  3. Offer reads: Reservations must be made online at hyatt.com, via the Hyatt mobile app or by phone. Offer only valid at Hyatt properties in the US. Excludes Hyatt Residence Club, Hyatt Vacation Club, Hyatt Travel, Hyatt Vacations and Hyatt at Home. Offer only valid on room rate and room charges. Offer not valid for stays that are paid for before or after the promotion start and end dates. Excludes purchases of Gold Passport rewards points. Excludes physical gift and e-gift card purchases.
