Hyatt Award Chart Changes

2015 Hyatt Award Chart Changes

I have fallen hard for Hyatt this year. This past summer I was able to complete the Hyatt Diamond challenge (no longer available) and enjoy their top tier status. Through about 20 stays this year, I have really grown to love Hyatt.

Last year they made quite a few changes to the Gold Passport program including the addition of Points + Cash bookings and the My Elite rate (positives) and a new Category 7 (a negative). Even with the slight devaluation and addition of a category, they still didn’t make too many waves.

Fortunately I can report this year brings even smaller changes. Effective 1/22/2014, 48 properties will be going down a category while 22 will be going up a category. At this time we still don’t know the fate of the My Elite rate which is set to expire at the end of the year. (Update: The My Elite rate will end on December 31. Details here.)

Notable Hotels Moving Up A Category

  • Park Hyatt Maldives from Category 6 to 7
  • Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht from Category 5 to 6
  • Grand Hyatt Macau from Category 4 to 5
  • Grand Hyatt Taipei from Category 3 to 4

Notable Properties Moving Down A Category

  • Hyatt Regency Osaka from Category 3 to 2
  • Grand Hyatt San Antonio from Category 4 to 3
  • Hyatt Regency Mexico City from Category 4 to 3
  • Hyatt French Quarter from Category 5 to 4
  • Park Hyatt Washington from Category 6 to 5

Conclusion

In the end this is mostly good news. There are always going to be category adjustments based on a number of factors. In this case a lot more properties are moving down than moving up and that is positive news in my opinion. You can find the full list of category changes here.
