Hyatt Casino Status Match

Hyatt Casino Status Match

Early in the year we like to talk about the casino status match train. This year it is amplified with MGM Rewards adding waived resort fees to status. I have already shown you how to play the Wyndham and Caesars status match game to earn valuable Caesars Diamond status without gambling. I also showed you how to use the Hyatt and MGM Rewards program to get valuable status & waived resort fees. Something that was buried in there a bit that is being overlooked is your Hyatt casino status match can actually earn you amazing status in both Caesars Rewards and MGM Rewards. With the World of Hyatt promotions last year there is a good chance you have status required to make this happen.

MGM Rewards Gold & Caesars Rewards Diamond Status Perks

Before showing you how to turn your Hyatt status into two valuable casino statuses I want to go over why you will want to do this. The perks that come with MGM Rewards Gold and Caesars Rewards Diamond status are pretty great and can save you hundreds of dollars.

Hyatt Casino Status Match Guide

Now that we know what the Hyatt casino status match merry go round will get you how do we get started? This will only work for people that have Hyatt Explorist or Hyatt Globalist status. I think many people reading this will have one or the other after the reduced requirements last year. If you have either of those then you can turn the status into MGM Rewards Gold and Caesars Rewards Diamond status.

MGM Rewards

Step 1: Match World of Hyatt Explorist or Globalist Status To MGM Rewards

Before we even get started on matching your Hyatt status to MGM Rewards we should ensure one thing, that you already have an account with MGM.  If you do not have an MGM Rewards account then sign up for one HERE.

Once we have that all squared away matching your status between the programs is pretty easy. It is all done online and will only take you a few minutes. Just be sure that you are not already logged into your MGM Rewards account when completing the match. It caused an error for me when that happened.

Once that is complete it may take a few days for your MGM Rewards status to update from Sapphire (or Pearl) to Gold status. Once you have your update MGM Gold status you can move onto the next step, turning it into Caesars Diamond.

Step 2: Match MGM Rewards to Caesars Diamond Status

Normally this next step is not an option, but it is this year! And, once you do it you can unlock MGM Gold and Caesars Diamond for life (or as long as the partnerships last) but more on that later.

Caesars has a very generous match going on all year that you will be eligible for with your newly minted MGM Rewards Gold status.

UPDATE: A bit lower in the terms it says this match is only for new Caesars Rewards members which will eliminate quite a few people. We have received data points that this is unfortunately enforced stringently in Vegas. Other reports say non Vegas Caesars properties are much looser with enforcement and people have had success there.

Here are the terms from the offer:

New Caesars Rewards® members, present your valid eligible VIP loyalty card from select competitors at any Caesars Rewards Center between February 1 –  December 31, 2022, earn one hundred (100) Tier Credits, and we will upgrade you to Diamond status valid through January 31, 2023.

Caesars Casino Status Match

This does require you visiting a Caesars owned casino. Luckily it doesn’t require you visiting a Las Vegas casino. There are lists of the nearest location for each state listed in the link. You also need to earn 100 tier credits, which is fairly easy. Once you do that you unlock Caesars Diamond status and all of the awesome perks that come with it.

How Your Hyatt Casino Status Match Keeps You Fat & Sassy For Life

Once you have turned your Hyatt Explorist or Globalist status into MGM Reward Gold and Caesars Reward Diamond status you can keep them long term, without gambling!  You just need to remember to match your MGM & Hyatt status back and forth every year and do the same with Wyndham and Caesars status.  Here are the links for that again with more information on the process:

You should be able to do this every year, indefinitely. Well, as long as the partnerships last at least.

What If You Don’t Have World of Hyatt Explorist or Globalist Status?

But what if you don’t have World of Hyatt status? You can still make this work if you already have, or can get, one of the following statuses:

  • MGM Rewards Gold
  • Caesars Diamond
  • Wyndham Diamond

If you have any of those status levels you can start the matching process. That is because MGM Rewards also has a casino status match going on that works with Caesars Diamond status. You could earn all of these status levels by having just one of them to start with.

Here would be the process for each status level (starting with the status bolded):

Hyatt Status Match: Final Thoughts

There you go! That is how you turn your World of Hyatt status, or any of the others listed, into two very valuable casino statuses. If you play it right you can lock up all of these status levels for a long time, without having to spend any money. People love to complain about the outrageous resort fees in Vegas, and rightfully so, but this trick lets you avoid them at every MGM and Caesars property. Plus, you get a few other nice perks like celebration dinners, free show tickets, line cutting perks etc. You get all that with just a few clicks of the mouse and a visit to a local area casino. Not too shabby!

  1. Hi Mark,
So to match Caesars Diamond to MGM gold you’ll need to do that in person, correct? Great write up!

  2. This does not work for anyone who ever had a Caesars account before. They check your name and date of birth when you go the Caesars desk to see if you ever had an account before. Don’t waste your time if you ever had a Caesars account every in the past even decades ago.

    • On a computer click the upper right where your name is and select My Rewards. Should show you what level you are at in there.

  3. How long does it take before Caesars update their match? I matched my Wyndham Diamond a week ago, and it still says Gold.

    • Some are starting to see it roll in now. But it usually takes them a few weeks early in the year. Some will apply for it a second time, not sure if that helps or not though.

  4. Great article. I match Wyndham to Caesar’s Diamond online and it is all set. I remember something a while back about the Celebration Dinner taking time to “hit” the account. Does that happen immediately or is there a wait? Also, if matching from Wyndham, do you need to do anything in person other than pick up your new Diamond card?

    • It usually takes about a week for the dinner to hit once the status changes over. No need to do anything else. Enjoy!
