Hyatt Elite Status Spending Offer
It’s no secret that people are less incentivized to use their travel credit cards right now. For one people simply are spending less, but also the thought of earning a currency they can’t really use right now isn’t the most appealing. For that reason companies are trying to find ways to get customers to use their cards. Along those lines Hyatt and Chase have sent out new Hyatt credit card spending offers to help entice you to spend. Will it work?
The Offers
Let’s take a look at the two spending offers Chase and Hyatt sent out for using their co-branded credit cards.
World of Hyatt Credit Cardmember Offer – 3 Qualifying Night Credits
World of Hyatt Credit Cardmembers can now earn a total of 3 qualifying night credits toward the next tier status for every $5,000 spent on their card between April 15, 2020 and June 30, 2020. That’s 1 bonus qualifying night credit in addition to the 2 qualifying night credits Cardmembers already earn (credits may post a different times).
Note: There was another targeted spending offer a few weeks ago you may have received as well.
Hyatt Credit Cardmember Offer – 2 Qualifying Night Credits
If you have a Hyatt Credit Card, you can now earn 2 qualifying night credits toward the next tier status for every $5,000 spent on your card between April 15, 2020 and June 30, 2020.
MtM Breakdown
The World of Hyatt credit card offer speeds up elite qualifying through spend to 1.5X normal. Instead of being awarded 2 qualifying nights for $5K in spend you get 3 qualifying nights. Considering elite status has been extended this year and how hard it is to travel right now, I’m not sure how many people will buy into it. If you were planning to spend towards nights this year then this is a great deal, but keep in mind you have to hit that entire $5K within the 2+ month promotional period.
For the regular old Hyatt credit card this is an interesting deal. That card doesn’t normally give the option to earn qualifying nights through spend, so this represents a way to get something you otherwise wouldn’t be able to. Of course the same issues as I mentioned above apply. I have to think the number of people tempted by this offer will be small.
Hyatt Elite Status Spending Offer – Bottom Line
Neither of these offers will knock anyone’s socks off, however if you already plan on spending money on either of these cards then it is something to consider. I already have my World of Hyatt Globalist status locked in through the beginning of 2022, so I think I’ll focus my spend elsewhere for the time being.

Status was extended to Feb 2022 but suite awards still expire in Feb 2021, so if you want a suite upgrade in the 12 months after Feb 2021, you’ll need at least 50 elite nights.
This is true. If people aren’t traveling though they may have less use for those. There are definitely reasons people might want to earn status this year including free nights and other perks along the way, but if your plan wasn’t already to do that I’m not sure why this promo would really be enough to get you to change your mind considering how much spend is required.
So my globalist is extended till 2/22 now I have about 30 nites is there any reason to get 60 nites this year will my globalist be extended till 2/23 if I hit the 60 nights?
Nope. The only reason would be to get the perks that come along with each of the milestones. Hitting 60 nights this year will get you a Category 1-7 free night but it won’t make a difference as to your status expiration date.
