Two New All-Inclusives Now Open & Free Wi-Fi
Two more Hyatt all-inclusive properties have now opened, bringing the total number of properties to five. Adding to existing properties in Mexico and Jamaica, the Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall and Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta have officially opened their doors as of today.
Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta
The Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta is built on the former site of the Dreams Puerto Vallarta. The property just completed a $20 million renovation and expansion as part of its switch over to the Hyatt brand. The family friendly resort is located 5 minutes from Puerto Vallarta and only 20 minutes from the airport.
One of the neat features of this hotel are the swim up rooms with pools located right outside of the door. The hotel also has a number of other interesting activities including tequila tastings with a certified sommelier.
After poking around the website for a bit, it appears rates are currently running in the $300-$400 range. The hotel is running a grand opening promotion offering up to 55% off for booking made before January 9, 2015.
Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall
The Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall is located on the former site of the Ritz Carlton hotel in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Unlike its sister property Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall (located next door), Hyatt Zilara is an adults only resort. The resort features 224 rooms including 30 swim up suites.
Between the Zilara and Ziva properties, there are a total of 16 restaurants. As you might expect, this property is not cheap. As of right now, rates in January and February are running about $800 for two people.
All-Inclusive Award Redemptions
Hyatt now has a total of 5 all-inclusive properties. Award redemptions at the hotels range from 20,000-25,000 points per night for the first two guests and must be made via telephone by calling 866-567-7830.
As you can see above, the Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta properties cost 20,000 points per night with additional guests costing 10,000 points per night each. The Hyatt Zilara Cancun and both Jamaica properties cost 25,000 points for the first two people and 12,500 points for each additional guest.
Free Wifi Chain Wide
Hyatt also announced today that they will be providing complimentary Wi-Fi service in all of their hotels beginning in February, 2015. Unlike other chains, Hyatt will not require guests to join their loyalty program. Platinum and Diamond members who currently already get free Wi-Fi as a benefit, will be given premium service in hotels where that is available.
This is a great move in my opinion. Hyatt now joins Marriott, IHG and Starwood who all offer some version of free Wi-Fi, although sometimes with strings attached. At this point it can’t be long before all of the major chains begin offering free Wi-Fi. You can read the full press release here.
Conclusion
These two new properties round out an impressive collection of all-inclusive resorts that Hyatt has opened over the past year. I am definitely eyeing a couple of them for upcoming trips.
As for the Wi-Fi announcement, I think it is a really positive move for the chain and one that I hope forces the hands of the other large chains who are holding out on offering free internet.

Dang you, Shawn, for distracting me at work and getting me thinking about this. Forgive me if I’ve missed a previous post from you on this topic (please point me to it if I did), but have you ever personally experienced a Hyatt all-inclusive? If so, I’d love to hear your thoughts. We have stayed at Palace Resorts in Cancun, and the TripAdvisor reviews for the Hyatt all-inclusive in Cancun appears to compare very favorably. The thought of paying with Hyatt (UR) points is very inviting. I just checked the “terms” for the 2 free nights from the Hyatt Visa and see that they will work for a standard room at these resorts (or at least most of them?). If you pay-up for the suite, I wonder what upgrade you get … sure it depends on the resort … but, for example, at the Cancun property – I wonder if the 40k/night suite is the swim-up suite or just the “premium” suite (which from reviews sounds like just a higher floor version of the standard room/suite).
I believe the 40k in Cancun gets you the ocean view premium suite along with premium alcohol and butler service. I am not sure there is any way to book the swim up rooms.
I haven’t stayed at any of the resorts. All five have just opened up within the past year. I probably will be trying out the one in Puerto Vallarta later this year.
