JetBlue Makes Positive Changes to TrueBlue Points Pooling

JetBlue Makes Positive Changes to TrueBlue Points Pooling

JetBlue sent an email yesterday notifying members of a few upcoming changes to the TrueBlue program. This is in addition to the promise of a more user friendly digital experience for all types of devices. Pooling is a great way to avoid wasted points, for more ideas check out 4 Ways to Avoid this Common Problem for Frequent Travelers.

Changes to TrueBlue

Family Pooling will become Points Pooling

With the altered Points Pooling feature, your pool can be made up of 2 to 7 members. There is no requirement that your pool members be family, nor are there limits on how many adults or children can pool together.

Instead of contributing a set percentage, members will contribute 100% of their points to the pool. Members can redeem or leave the pool with their unused points whenever they choose.

In contrast to the current system, the Pool Leader will be able to give other members in the pool privileges to redeem points from the entire pooled balance.

TrueBlue Badges

After this update, TrueBlue Badges will be suspended for an unspecified amount of time. This is a negative change since Badges allowed members more ways to earn a few additional points. But the loss is minor, I think I’ve earned a few hundred points from badges in the last 5 years.

Conclusion

Anything that makes miles more flexible is a positive in this industry, especially since you’ll be able to book award flights sooner. This is a  and user-friendly way to pool points since you can pool with anyone of your choosing and there are no barriers to exiting a pool with your unredeemed points in tow.
