JetBlue to Announce Service to Europe Today?
Rumors about JetBlue making its way to Europe have been swirling around for a while. But the day might be finally here for an official announcement of the new routes.
The airline is scheduled to hold an “all hands” meeting with staff at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport along with “viewing parties” at some of its main hubs around the U.S. on Wednesday afternoon, according to a company invitation obtained by CNBC.
Clues come from the save-the-date email announcing the April 10 event, which featured a background pattern similar to upholstery on London’s subway. Buttons featuring JetBlue’s logo and iconic London sights of Big Ben and the London Eye were sent to JetBlue offices, according to one employee.
JetBlue is expected to add service to London but could also include other routes to more European cities from its New York and Boston hubs.
JetBlue has long been rumored to be planning a trans-Atlantic expansion featuring cheaper business-class flights than rivals such as Delta and United. We should find out later today if that’s the case.
