Keep Your HHonors Points from Expiring
I promise this will be my last post about the 1,000 free HHonors points for changing your password promotion. The other day I covered how the promotion has been extended, but unfortunately I hadn’t heard back about how long it will take for the points to post.
Last night my contact at Hilton finally responded to my inquiry and informed me that it will take 6-8 weeks for the points to post. I know many people including my wife were counting on those points to extend the expiration date on their HHonors account balance. My wife’s points for example expire on May 6, 2015, so there is no reason to believe the bonus points will hit her account before then. Now it appears we have to look at another avenue.
Here are a few ways to keep your HHonors points from expiring:
- Spend $1 on a HHonors co-branded credit card.
- Stay at a Hilton Property
- Earn points shopping or dining. (Note: Points may take awhile to post.)
- Buy 1,000 points for $12.50 as a last resort.
Conclusion
Using an HHonors credit card (if you have one) is probably the simplest solution to this problem, but if you get down to the last days, remember that you can purchase the 1,000 points for $12.50 which is a lot cheaper than losing everything in your account.
