Lyft Launches Pre-Order Feature at Select Airports
If you fly out of a major hub the you are used to the ritual of a long wait for a ride once you exit the airport. But Lyft wants to make that a thing of the past, thanks to a new feature that rolled out on Thursday at select locations.
Lyft is now allowing riders to pre-order a ride at the airport. For now, only riders at Los Angeles International Airport and Chicago’s O’Hare International and Midway International airports are able to pre-order a ride upon landing.
The app tracks the rider as they walk through the airport and then match them with a driver as they get closer to the pickup spot.
The goal of the feature is to make it easier and more convenient for riders to get a ride at the airport. By pre-ordering a ride, riders can avoid long wait times and ensure that they have a ride waiting for them when they arrive at the pickup location.
The new pre-order feature is expected to roll out to airports in Austin, New York (JFK) and Seattle by the end of the month. It will then expand at more airports in the future.
In addition to the pre-order feature, Lyft is also making it easier for riders to connect their travel plans to the app. Riders can now connect their Apple Calendar or Google Assistant to the Lyft app in order to get travel notifications. This will allow riders to know when it’s time to leave for the airport and what gate their flight is at.
