A new Citi ThankYou JetBlue transfer bonus promotion has been released. Earn 25% more points when transferring, but is it a good deal?

Membership Rewards to JetBlue Transfer Bonus

American Express has a new promotion that will give you extra TrueBlue points when you transfer your Membership Rewards. It is targeted by account and varies by account.  I received a 20% offer where as Shawn received a 30% offer.  Transfer bonuses are nothing new for Amex and Jet Blue but I did find that they vary by person pretty interesting.

The Offer

Get 20 or 30% more TrueBlue Points when you transfer Membership Rewards points through 3/25/18.  Let me know if you got anything different for your offer in the comments section.

Key Terms

  • Minimum transfer is 250 Membership Rewards points.
  • Redeem for this exclusive offer from 12:00 a.m. MT on February 26, 2018 to 11:59 p.m. MT on March 25, 2018, to receive 20% additional TrueBlue points.
  • TrueBlue points will be awarded at the time of transfer. For each conversion of points into the Frequent Flyer program of a U.S. airline, a fee of $0.0006 per point, with a maximum fee of $99, will be charged to your Card account.

Conclusion

American Express‘ normal transfer rate is 250:200 while with this promotion the rate increases to 250:240, or 250:260. This is a good option for using Membership Rewards especially for those who live near a JetBlue hub.

TrueBlue points are worth about 1.5 cents each, but you can get a higher value out of them when using the JetBlue Mint business-class product or for international travel.

  1. Just transferred 25k Amex points to JetBlue to take advantage of 20% targeted offer. I have a screenshot clearly saying the bonus is there and I should receive 24k JetBlue Points. Alas, only 20k JetBlue points have posted, which would be the normal amount sans bonus. Has anyone seen something like this?

    Amex customer service has not been helpful. First they told me I had to call, not use the website to get the bonus. When I pointed out that the offer was online, they walked that back and said they were having issues but it’s on JetBlue to credit the bonus. I’m pretty sure that’s false, and that in bonus situations like this that the bonus is supposed to be included in the transfer immediately.

    What do I do? Help!

    • That is crazy. Make sure you save multiple screen shots of the offer and include the page’s URL for proof of the offer. I contact via chat and see if you can get anywhere that way. Demand the 4,000 miles or threaten a CFPB complaint. You may try calling and doing the same thing if chat doesn’t work. If all else fails file a claim and you will get your points within a month – I doubt it will come to that though. Also mention – do you really want to lose a long term (assuming) customer over 4,000 points you actually owe…something along those lines.

  6. Sorry to sound stupid but where do you look to see if you were targeted? I only fly jetblue so would love to transfer some over.

  10. Nothing for me, still 2:2.5. I have my accounts linked. Are your Amex B6 accounts linked? Might impact it… Really wish they would move it back to 1:1, I hate how both Citi and Amex have horrible transfer ratios to True Blue, used to use it more often when it was 1:1.

    • Yeah I don’t get them offering less than 1 to 1 since they are not that valuable unless JetBlue won’t give them a deal on the miles. Amex may be mad they left.

    • Thomas is correct, unless you count Aruba, Grenada, St. Lucia and Barbados. Here’s a chart of current Mint routes: https://www.jetblue.com/flying-on-jetblue/mint/ As far as sweet spots, if you have a Jetblue Plus credit card you automatically get 10% of your redeemed points back after you complete your flight and the lowest set price for Mint is around 40k points. Jetblue also runs points promotions where things get even cheaper- for example in December they ran a promo where you got a 15% rebate on award travel in addition to your 10% card rebate.
