New MGM Rewards, Waived Fees Apply to myVEGAS Stays

MGM recently announced some major changes to its rewards program, including the name. The M life program will soon be a thing of the past, with MGM Rewards taking its place. MGM is gutting tier credit earning levels but there are new added benefits such as waived resort fees, free show tickets, celebration dinners and more.

When it comes to waived resort fees, that’s a new benefit for MGM Rewards members with Gold tier status or higher. But to take advantage of this new perk, you must book your directly through MGM Resorts. But it wasn’t clear whether these fees would be waived for myVEGAS bookings, since they are done through the MGM Resorts website.

If you’re not familiar with myVEGAS, it is an online game that allows you to earn coins which several real life redemption options, including meals, drinks and hotel rooms. When redeeming points for stays, you can cover the room rate and tax but you have to pay resort fees.

Eye of the Flyer has now confirmed that myVEGAS stays “would be considered a direct booking so resorts fees would be waived”. The information comes from an MGM representative.

Just keep in mind that you would still need to have MGM Rewards Gold status or higher to have your resort fees waived. Also these changes for the MGM Rewards (M Life) program go into effect on February 1, 2022.

  1. Not true for me at Aria. I did get my fees waived as a “one time courtesy” for two nights but she asked her manager and called someone as well and confirmed on her end that they are not supposed to be waived when booking as a gold member through MYvegas
