New Bonus Restriction for American Express Green Card
Chasing welcome bonuses on American Express credit card has become more complicated over the last year with the addition of credit family rules. We have seen these restrictions added to Platinum cards, American Express® Gold Card, personal Delta SkyMiles credit cards, as well as everyday and cash back cards.
Now the latest card to get these bonus restriction is the American Express Green Card. Over the last couple of days, the terms of the welcome bonus have changed and now have the following language:
You may not be eligible to receive a welcome offer if you have or have had this Card, the Platinum Card®, the Platinum Card® from American Express Exclusively for Morgan Stanley, the Platinum Card® from American Express Exclusively for Charles Schwab, the American Express® Gold Card or previous versions of these Cards. You also may not be eligible to receive a welcome offer based on various factors, such as your history with credit card balance transfers, your history as an American Express Card Member, the number of credit cards that you have opened and closed and other factors. If you are not eligible for a welcome offer, we will notify you prior to processing your application so you have the option to withdraw your application.
Previously, you would not be eligible for a welcome offer if you have or had the American Express Green Card in the past. Now the terms state that previously having any of the Platinum cards, or the Amex Gold Card also disqualifies you for the welcome bonus.
So if you are looking at the three Pay Over Time credit cards offered by American Express, you would have to start with the American Express® Green Card, then the American Express® Gold Card, and last but not least, The Platinum Card® from American Express. That would ensure that you receive the welcome bonus on all three cards.

Man.. I hope they don’t start doing this with the hotel cards..:( Starting at the bottom and work your way up..
Would this be applied if I started with the Business card line up? Since they are different product line?
