Chase Extends ‘Pay Yourself Back’ for Southwest Credit Cards

Chase recently added the ‘Pay Yourself Back’ feature for Southwest cards. Southwest cardholders can redeem Rapid Rewards points to cover select purchases. Now this feature has been extended through the second quarter. Let’s see how it works.

The Offer

With Pay Yourself Back, you can turn your recent qualifying transaction that posted to your account within the last 90 days into a statement credit. Currently, purchases at restaurants, including takeout and eligible delivery services, are eligible for you to redeem up to $300 through 6/30/2023.

Redemption value is as follows:

  • Annual Fee: 1 cent per point
  • Dining purchases: 0.8 cents per point for up to $300 in purchases.

If you plan to use Pay Yourself Back on your Southwest card, here’s how to find this new feature:

  1. Go to Chase Southwest card account online.
  2. Click ‘More’ and choose ‘Rewards dashboard’.
  3. Find the ‘Earn / Use’ section and choose “Use Rapid Rewards points with Pay Yourself Back’.

Conclusion

The ‘Pay Yourself Back’ feature on Chase Southwest cards is not as exciting as the one for Aeroplan or Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders. But it can still be useful if you have more points than you can use. You can at least get a decent value for paying the annual fee.
