Pendry DC Fine Hotels & Resorts
I recently returned from an enjoyable one-night stay at the Pendry Washington, DC on the Wharf. The stay was even more special thanks to the perks from my Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts booking. While the Pendry offers plenty on its own, active points and travel hobbyists can do even better by stacking their Amex Platinum’s $200 annual hotel credit with FHR benefits. Here are the Pendry DC Fine Hotels & Resorts benefits I received and what others can expect.
Pendry Washington, DC Fine Hotels & Resorts Benefits
The attentive front desk agent proactively offered the following FHR benefits. He provided a handy hard copy for reference and fully explained each item.
- 12 pm check-in, when available
- Room upgrade upon arrival, when available
- Daily breakfast for two: $60 credit for Flora Flora a la carte breakfast
- Complimentary Wi-Fi
- Guaranteed 4:00 pm late checkout
- Experience credit:Â $100 property credit to be used during your stay
- Complimentary Welcome Amenity
My Experience & Take
The Pendry sufficiently delivered all Fine Hotels & Resorts benefits. I immediately obtained my room upon arrival at the hotel just before 3 pm, well before the standard 4 pm check-in time. The front desk agent confirmed my 4 pm checkout preference at check-in. I booked a basic king room and received an upgrade to a partial river view room.  Shortly after arriving in my room, a worker delivered the complimentary welcome amenity: two bottles of Voss water and a block of dark chocolate cleverly displayed on a mini-easel. Fine Hotels & Resorts guests do not receive any premium Wi-Fi option at the Pendry DC; I used standard login procedures.
Based on my experience, the breakfast amenity was limited to Flora Flora restaurant; room service was not available for this benefit. Probably the most outstanding FHR Amenity at the Pendry is the $100 property credit and its tremendous flexibility. The front desk advised the property credit is good for anything charged to the room, except gratuity:
- Spa services and merchandise
- Food and beverages from room service, the minibar, or hotel restaurants:
- Moonraker
- Flora Flora
- Bar Pendry
- Valet Parking
The property credit stretched plenty in my experience. I used this credit at Moonraker and Bar Pendry for dinner, dessert, and evening beverages. These two restaurants each offer happy hour specials on food and beverages. Flora Flora offers reasonable prices for breakfast. My meal, coffee, and juice totaled just over $30 before gratuity, and parties of two will have no problem staying in the ballpark of the $60 credit.
Conclusion
While I’d consider the Pendry DC again, I’d primarily do so with the FHR benefits for a more complete stay. The Pendry is by no means a “cheap” FHR property, but travelers with a bit of schedule flexibility can largely make up for any $200 hotel credit overages with the additional benefits. The flexible property credit particularly shines at the Pendry, where food and beverage items aren’t overly expensive. Have you stayed at the Pendry DC on a Fine Hotels & Resorts booking? How was your experience?

My experience with Fine Hotels & Resorts is limited to one 3-night stay at the Four Seasons in Chicago. I received all of the benefits, including an upgrade to a suite with a lake view. I also received a hard-copy itemization of the benefits, which the desk clerk described one-by-one at check-in. That clarity was appreciated, as was the fact that I didn’t have to ask for any of the benefits. Wife and I are now planning to book the Four Seasons in New Orleans through Fine Hotels & Resorts.
