Quintuple Dipping Best Buy

As I mentioned in yesterday’s roundup post, Best Buy is holding their big 50th anniversary 50 hour sale. It started last night and has a ton of discounted merchandise. Additionally, there are a few other offers to consider to juice your savings even more. So the sale is the first part of our savings plan, now let’s take a look at the other four.

Best Buy Amex Offer 1

Quintuple Dipping Best Buy

Hopefully you were able to load the $25 off $250 Best Buy Amex Offer back when it was available. Whether you purchase from this sale or not, let this serve as reminder that it will be expiring on September 5. Anyway, the second step towards savings is this. 10% off instantly. Bam!

Best Buy Amex Offer 2

As if one Amex Offer wasn’t enough, there is another targeted offer you might find on your account. For example, on my Amex Platinum card I have both the above offer and this one offering 2X Membership Rewards points at BestBuy.com through 12/31/2016. These offers will stack.

Best Buy Visa Checkout Offer

Best Buy and Visa Checkout are also offering $10 off a $100+ purchase if you use Visa Checkout. The key is that you don’t need to use a Visa card. Simply add the Amex card with the above offers to your Visa Checkout account and use it to pay. Another $10 saved instantly! $$$

Cash Back Portal

Finally, top it all of with a nice little payout from a shopping portal. Splender currently is paying the best cash rate at 2% while the AAdvantage portal is still running its back to school promotion. You can earn 1X mile per dollar plus big bonuses. Details on that here.

Putting It All Together

To recap, the quintuple dip is:

  • 50 hour sale
  • Amex Offer 1
  • Amex Offer 2
  • Visa Checkout Offer
  • Shopping Portal Bonus

You will also earn Best Buy Rewards as well. Not bad. So, if we stack all of these things together, what do we end up with?

  • Cost of items: $250
  • Amex Offer 1: -$25
  • Visa Checkout: $-10
  • Splender 2%: – $4.80 (2% on the after Visa Checkout amount)
  • Final cost: $210.20
  • Discount: 15.9% + 480 points earned + Best Buy Rewards

*Note your final total (amount charged to your card) after the Visa Checkout discount has to be above $250 to trigger the Amex Offer. If you have tax then that should take care of it. If you don’t, then you’ll need $260+ of merchandise which lowers the discount percentage a bit. The math will differ slightly for everyone.

Conclusion

Whether or not you find something with this 50 hour sale, it is always nice to look for deals like these that will stack together. Remember, you could potentially earn a lot of miles through the AA bonus and if you have this offer on multiple cards, it could get fun. Either way, there are some nice savings to be had.

  1. So what happens when you’re an Elite Plus member with Best Buy and get the ‘we canceled your order due to a verification issue’ for every order but when you call in no one really knows what real issue is. Is this their ban method that no one at Best Buy even knows about. So I have a bunch of Rewards Certificates, but can’t even place a straight credit card purchase online for a small purchase. What a joke, maybe they’re owned by the cartel of eBay/Paypal.

  2. Hi, Shawn! Would we still get the $25 Amex offer after Visa checkout takes off $10, thus reducing the total to $240?

  3. Some portals (eg AA) have $15 off $75 coupon at HP. Should be able to stack with Amex Offers, Visa checkout, and the others listed here.
