You Can Now Redeem Alaska Miles for Qatar Airways Awards
Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan members can now use their miles to book award travel on Qatar Airways. This opens up more opportunities for using Alaska miles, that the award chart isn’t very favorable.
Alaska Airlines launched a partnership with Qatar Airways in December 2020, joined the Oneworld alliance in early 2021, and its partnership with Emirates ends tomorrow. So this latest development is not a complete surprise.
When the partnership between Alaska Airlines and Qatar Airways was first announced, reciprocal mileage earning was also introduced. But until now there was no reciprocal mileage redemptions. That has changed, as Alaska Airlines has published award charts for travel on Qatar Airways. Awards are already bookable directly on alaskaair.com.

Out of the Middle East, you can fly to South Pacific costs for 50,000 miles in economy or 100,000 miles in business, to Europe for 25K/65K, and Indian Subcontinent starting at 17.5K/40K.
As you can see, it will be hard to get a great redemption value for your Alaska Airline miles on Qatar flights. Some routes can go as high as 280,000 miles one-way (Seattle to Cape May).
On the plus side, you get a free stopover in Doha and there are no fuel surcharges for award redemptions.
Conclusion
It’s always good news when you have more redemption options for your miles. But that doesn’t mean that you should rush to redeem. The rates are quite high and you can do better on Qatar awards with American Airlines miles.
Plus, Alaska miles are not as easy to earn since you only options are credit card welcome bonuses and spend, and transfers from Marriott.
