How to Request a Chase Ultimate Rewards Travel Cancellation Online

If you have upcoming travel, you are probably looking to cancel to change your travel dates already. If booked directly with with hotels or airlines, you can make changes to your reservations directly with them. But if you have bookings through the Chase Ultimate Rewards Travel portal, wait times are crazy when you try calling in. Some people report waiting for hours and hours.

But there is an easier way for those who don’t like long waits, or even human interaction for that matter. The Chase Ultimate Rewards Travel portal has an online form where you can request to cancel your travel reservation. This is not an immediate cancellation. Seems to be prioritized by date of travel, but it says they aim to confirm to you the amount of your refund within 7 business days. And make sure you want to cancel before you submit. Once it is submitted, you will not be able to cancel this request.

I have never used this form myself, but it sure beats waiting on a phone call forever. It is probably not a good idea for last minute cancellations though.

How it Works

You need to be logged in your Chase account first, and then proceed to the following link: https://travel.chase.com/customersupport/travel-alert-refunds. You need to submit the following information:

  • Itinerary number (11 – 14 characters on your itinerary or confirmation email)
  • Product (flights, hotels, packages, cars, activities)
  • Other information based on your product

Key Terms

  • By submitting a cancellation request, you authorize Chase Travel to cancel your reservation(s).
  • Submitting a cancellation request does not guarantee a full refund. Cancellation policies differ depending upon the airline and if you wish to cancel, not all airlines allow for full refunds at this time.
  • If your airline does not offer a full refund, our customer support team will contact you to advise you of your options prior to cancelling your booking.
  • We will aim to confirm to you the amount of your refund within 7 business days.
  • Please be sure that you do not wish to travel before submitting. Once your cancellation request is received, you will not be able to cancel this request and Chase Travel will initiate the cancellation on your behalf.

Conclusion

Much easier than calling in but not well suited for last minute cancellations. Let know if you have used this feature and how it worked out.

  1. Things are pretty wacky between Chase and United re: UR tickets. As others have noted, at United sometimes you can click through to a change page, and other times they bounce you to Chase. At Chase, it is a void – previously they just gave you a phone number (bwaa haa haa!), and now they give you this cryptic form. I’m guessing these companies are playing hot potato with all these bookings – either United’s referral to Chase is defective or they have a quota in place. I would be curious to hear from someone who actually received a refund using Chase’s form – I’m guessing for the meantime these are just going into a massive pile to be dealt with whenever.

Meanwhile, at least at United you can still login to their website – AF and others are simply not taking login requests.

  2. So, I used points to book a flight with AA. A flight that takes place on 3/21. Do I cancel with AA or with Chase? Will chase get me a voucher for the amount or do I get my points back? How does that work? Curious as I’ve never had to cancel one before.
